What can I say besides, Good Lord, this thread brought every crazy that has ever visited GLP. And, uh, thanks for 34 pages of craziness.

A special thanks to Geogal. She tried her best to teach people here and she's awesome. Thanks Geogal.

In the past, I noticed the sun would set closer to Mount Evans at this time of year. That's on the front range of the Rocky Mountains in Denver, Colorado. Then after the summer solstice, it would start moving south again.

For the past couple of years, the sun has been setting much farther north -- closer to the Eagles Nest Ridge by Vail and even beyond that this year near Rabbit Ears pass as viewed from Denver.

It's very noticeable from where I live and easy to tell the huge change from earlier years. Just thought I'd share.
My identify was stolen right here on GLP, WTF!!!

A starting point for those that prefer NOT to look at the sun, but have their eyes and minds open enough to do some bloody re-search

The fact that the Sun is rising and setting too far north is obvious to anyone who cares to take a look.

Anyone who isn't blind can see it.

Oh yes. I got second degree burns on my nose in May
in Wisconsin. That is unheard of for these parts. I grew up in Cali and the sun was much stronger there and it was hard
to get a tan in Wi. Well, now you can. In a much shorter period of time, I might add. Somethings up.

Those who fight so hard against Op's postulation must be protecting something.

Otherwise, why wouldn't they just let OP alone?

If OP is crazy, then why don't you just let her howl at the wind.

Debunkers always reinforce my opinion that there's truth about.

OK how far North should the Sun be, and how far away is it from this position? Very simple question

I wonder how many of us got marginalized and laughed at when first we came to understand the earth is not flat.

Think this routine the debunkers play is tiresome. I do!

Yes, a fine example of logic. We should test all theory this way.

Make up some "bunk" and if debunkers show up, then it must be true...brilliant.

What I find tiresome Dee 536 is your complete inability top come up with any objective statement as where the Sun should be seen on any particular date at any particular location. How on earth can you know that the 'Sun is too far North', if you have no idea where Science says the Sun should be in the first place. I have repeatedly offered to tell you where the Sun sets at your location according to Science, allowing you to objectively test for yourself whether your theory is true, yet you have repeatedly ignored this offer, why is that?

Probably none of us, as that was hundreds of years ago.

Who made that determination?

Well, the answer is a bunch of smart fellows utilizing logic, math and scientific instuments...in other words scientists. These are the same people that today will tell you there is nothing wrong with the Earth's obliquity.

See the difference?

Re: I've been through the desert on a thread with no name
Greetings,

Just a question and I admit I am not sure of the answer.

But would that not then change the position of the auroral ovals? I am an amature in Astronomy but I have been taught the ovals are in fixed position in relation to The Sun. Thefeore if the position were to change it seems so would the position of the ovals.

Midnight the oval (North) is at roughly 23 degrees whereas mid day it runs at roughly 12.

Has anyone tracked any changes in the position? That would be a sure indicator that OP is on to something but to my knowledge there has been no change.

Regards

JimmyK

Why do debunkers exist? are they emotionally and intellectually empty that they feel a need to attack others and take a negative position regardless of the topic to satisfy their own inner ego and seek attention? Why do debunkers exist only in controvercial circles where an overwhelming majority support from the people would hurt those in power? And what is it exactly that debunkers are trying to achieve by smearing open minded intellectuals who contribute to progression of the human race?

It's the debunkers which hold (and have held throughout history) humanity back from exponential evolution into new fields, and it's the debunkers which are mans worst enemy.

Dude, It was viewing the ships as they left the harbor and people noticed they could only see the top half after some distance occurred between the viewer and the ship.

THAT, is what started the question "Is the world really flat or is it rounded?"

A simple observation lead to the discovery of the world being round, spherical.

And tell me, what scientific instruments back then were used to calculate the earths shape? Their brains, and it was a bunch of sailors that actually lead the discovery. A bunch of alcoholic sailors.

AND, those who 1st supported the idea the world was rounded were ridiculed constantly, they were socially unaccepted.

It was not scientists today who made the discovery then.

In fact, the Greeks before Columbus's time new the world was round. The church was suppressing the idea from the public.

Just like TPTB are suppressing knowledge now!

Educate yourself.

If it's so obvious that she's full of bunk, then why do we need you?

Why do you need to prove anything?

You and the moon landing debunkers are the most virulant strain of virus on the planet. If you could get into the bloodstream, you'd snuff out all life.

If it's so obvious, laugh and go along your merry way.

But you don't. You keep at it until your last breath.

So either:

1. You have a vested interest in debunking this topic.
2. You're an egomaniacal asshole that just can't let it alone.

Which is it?

Absolutely - We advance by theorising as to how things are and testing those theories against what we can observe, In the process a lot of theories turn out to be 'bunk' when observations fail to match their predictions. Nothing wrong with theorising about anything, what is definitely wrong is being unwilling to test your theory against observations.
