( a few years ago) The closest Frisbee golf course to me is under water right now. vaccinefreehealth blogspot com The risk far outweighs any benefit as the risk will vary from child to child. facebook.com/graphixyourway |

V User ID: 298429 United States 06/10/2008 09:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | "A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against its government." "People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of the people." "If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!!!" “…if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.” "I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men." - Woodrow Wilson from his death bed regarding his involvement in the passage of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 321019 United States 06/10/2008 09:48 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Took it up last summer at age 56. It is really fun and great for my health. I play about 5 times a week. My weight has gone from 220 to 195 and my blood pressure has dropped significantly. It is free at every course in my area so after I got my disc set (7 discs and a bag for about $100.00) I haven't spent one nickel. My wife has also taken it up and she loves it as well. It is the perfect game for me. |
TLD3 (OP) User ID: 408636 United States 06/10/2008 09:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | nice to hear ACs and to KindaGamey.... i think that is a water holder.... but beer is mostly water anyway, as long as you dont leave your empties on the course :) one other thing to think about. this is becomming a serious sport! pros make good money, and there arent a whole lot of them yet. this is kind of a "ground floor" sport. i plan on teaching my daughter to play when she is about 10 or so. if she grows up playing, her muscles will develop in ways that will benefit her in the sport and she could make a living playing. even for those of us who are older, if you are willing to put the time in, you could make good money playing this game. even if you dont, there are tournaments all over, and you can have alot of fun just with the competition. |

The worst disc golf locations are those that jampack everything in one tiny flat location where every hole can see all other holes. Its better than nothing at all, but its quite bland. The best have a complete variety of wide open spaces, rolling terrain, and light to densely wooded approaches. An adventure in itself. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 321019 United States 06/10/2008 10:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It sounds funny that a game like this could give me a new lease on life, but I couldn't agree more. Wish I would have discovered it sooner, but better late than never. One of the great things to me is that every course I have played is so different from the others. Makes it extremely fun and challenging. Seriously, I could play every day. |

malu User ID: 421073 United States 06/11/2008 12:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i used to eat off a frisbee! i learned to nail delay so i could do all kinds of tricks, mastered every throw, played for hours and hours everyday for years, the game at the time was "guts" , basically two lines of people facing each other about 50 feet apart, with several discs, and you would rifle it at them, and they could only catch it with one hand, lmao, it was actually really popular, i believe michigan tech was national champion never played much golf, lost interest, although i did teach my daughter the finer points , she is pretty damn good "By way of deception, thou shalt do war." osbogosley User ID: 1337974 United States 04/19/2011 08:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Former pro, Have a course in small town park that I designed and built. Still going good at 61. Thought it was time to revive an old thread and see if any of the people are still around. cheers osbogosley; All words I type are illegal advice, really tired of disclaimers! |
calendulaceum User ID: 1300891 United States 04/19/2011 09:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I built a course. 4 aces on three holes in 3 years of play. Didn't get to play much this year :( Chain is stupid expensive, I scrapped my targets together for about $50 a pop. I use 2, sometimes three as play twice targets on the 18. I also have 2 contact targets built out of scrap metal/garbage that'll make noise if you hit them. Incredible through the woods and open territory as well, I think a lot of my holes are relatively short, most could feasibly get aced. The rough is psycho, and I always tell folks that the second shot is the mucho important one on this course. All par 3, #10 is really hard to par. Best score: 6 under. Average: 1 under. Lousy day at the links: over par. And I got to build it on neighbor's unused land. I end the season in early june and fire it back up in early october to avoid battling the vegetation. Can play in summer, but it takes as long to search for missing discs as to play the course. Fun to see a thread for disc golf. |
