Is it worth it? How long did it take you to recover from this? How much money did you make?

You can sell your own shit for big bucks if you meet the criteria.

Look it up.

Don't use shit as your search word.

I didn't make the cut. They're really picky about their shit.

Re: Has anyone here ever donated plasma before?
OP, do a search for your local plasma donation center and see what they pay.

It is much more of a process now than it was before.

They will do a background check on you; check your vitals, including blood pressure and protein levels. You have to provide proper identifi

cation, and be finger-printed for sign in.... then you will need to fill out a questionaire. And if you pass all this, which seems most people do.... at my local plasma collection, it's like $90 per donation.

Then each time you return, you'll go through the vital analysis and questionaire completion request again. Another $90.

Takes about an hour for the actual procedure.

Eat something before you go, and you'll be fine. Can be easy money for some.

I had a blood pressure issue I had to work through first....

They just replace the plasma with saline solution. It feels "cold and empty" going in, but not harmful AFAIK.

I did at Grifols for several few months in two periods during the mid-2010s.

The technicians seemed overworked and I was always concerned about them making a mistake with the needle, and eventually one did (but not a huge deal).

It's taxing on a life force-level to have your plasma sucked out -- but on a more immediate basis, meaning I don't recall _feeling_ any recovery time was needed afterward, though biologically I know there is.

The 'routine' aspect can be relaxing. If you have the time (2-3h session), can put up with the red-tape around medical things, and the money helps you cover basic needs, it seems like a great thing to do.

They paid $20-30 per session back then, with the higher amount (plus bonuses) given if you maxed out your donations per week/month.

No idea how vax status might have changed things nowadays (for better or worse).

Oh, you (84232606) were talking about the blood component going back in after separation..

That felt perfectly normal..

(To clarify, they input the saline separately when you're all done the procedure.)

I think my average was 2 hours. It got longer during peak periods, having to wait in queue both before & after.

AC 86750045's info seems more current. Maybe things are different now.

Fuck no. Don't let your blood be run through a machine maintained and supposedly sanitized by retards.

Might as well inject dog blood

Re: Has anyone here ever donated plasma before?
I did it to make money in college. Rare blood type (B-). I got $20 per donation. You can do 2x a week. It is kind of terrible because they take your blood, separate the plasma then put the rest back into you. The stuff going back in is "uncomfortable." There's really no time to recover required.

I was doing this in the 70's and making $20 a trip. I could fill my car's gas tank for $5, paid $288 per semester for a first class school and could buy a decent used care for $250. Take my girlfriend (now wife) out for dinner and a movie for $5. So, $20 was a lot.

Re: Has anyone here ever donated plasma before?
Yes.

About halfway through the process, I felt dizzy. So, I told them to stop.

They kept me on the chair for about ten minutes.

I walked out into the waiting room and sat there for a few more moments.

Then, I slid slowly and gracefully, as any woman should, onto the floor, eyes rolling back, body limp.

The next thing I remember was being taken out on a gurney by EMTs, slapping the hands of my sympathetic fellow brethren in comradery like a hero being removed from the battlefield.

Of course, I was taken to the local hospital in Gainesville, which was Shands.

I don't think I ever got paid.

All I know it that Plasma centers pay you about $50 per session. They really like the addicts and street people because their Plasma is super potent due to all the infections they constantly have to fight off. I believe you can only donate twice a month, that gives your body time to replenish the anti bodies.

Re: Has anyone here ever donated plasma before?
My sister and her husband have been going twice a week and "donating". They pay $100 a session I believe. She doesn't seem to have anything bad to say about it. I've been considering going myself. I'm O- blood type but don't know if that affects the payout or anything like that. Seems like it could be a decent way to make some extra cash.
