"Forecasters at the Climate Prediction Center in Camp Springs, Md., said the odds favor a warmer-than-normal summer throughout almost all of California and the Southwest. The forecast is based on a 10-year trend of rising summer temperatures in the region, said meteorologist Mike Halpert.
Only a thin strip along the coast is expected to have a good shot at normal or below-normal temperatures in July, August and September, according to the center.
However, Bill Patzert, a research oceanographer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, sees a cooler summer but one peppered with longer and more frequent heat waves.
Patzert expects a repeat of the pattern seen in April, May and so far in June. Temperatures have seesawed between below normal most of the time to record highs during repeated heat waves.
Warmer weather, whether in spurts or all season long, could pose challenges to the elderly without air conditioning as well as local firefighters.
“That's not a good prediction for us at all,” said Cal Fire Division Chief Pete Scully. “It's scary.”"

I remember that one. How could I forget? My AC broke down and maintenance couldn't come to fix it for 2 days. Just north of Calabasas on the coast, and its about 106 degrees out side just now, at 1:00 p.m. This AC goes out again, and I'm going to be in tears.

I warned of this a week before it hit. You just need to visit OWSweather.com more often and you would have known. We had power demand, public advisories out well ahead of anyone for it. We were prepared for that heatwave.
