What is Quiet Quitting?

Answer

Key takeaways: Quiet quitting is when employees continue to put in the minimum amount of effort to keep their jobs, but don't go the extra mile for their employer. This might mean not speaking up in meetings, not volunteering for tasks, and refusing to work overtime. It might also result in greater absenteeism.

Too many have busted their asses and gotten nothing for it. No extra pay, no promotions, no advancements. And you may have watched your colleagues who can tick a racial (non white box) or sexual preference (non heterosexual) be rewarded, yet they aren’t technically experienced to do the higher job.
There sometimes comes a time when you need the income and stay for a period of time, so just show up, do the job written description basic and well, then clock off mentally and physically when the day ends.

The more I think about it I can see the conspiracy theory here:

This is a corporate psy op to cut the fat.

From now on employers will be looking very closely for signs of “quiet quitting” and will have an excuse to crack the whip when they need to test your work ethic.

What is Quiet Firing?

Answer

Quiet firing is an informal term that went viral in 2022 as workplace employment trends shifted, according to Duncan. "It refers to a manager pushing out employees by treating them poorly or changing their work responsibilities, instead of directly firing them," Duncan explains.

That’s fair depending on your line of work but working at a grade C level seems different than quiet quitting or is it the same?

What is Quiet Hiring?

Answer

What is "quiet hiring"? Quiet hiring, a term largely attributed to Emily Rose McRae of Gartner, is when a company either works with contract workers (like freelancers ) or asks current employees to do things outside of their job roles.

I had an HR lady tell me that she would rather it be an older person applying for jobs than younger people.

This was a year ago. She said the kids want everything and the highest salaries right off the bat, but then they also have no loyalty. First job that comes along they are gone.

I still do my Job

But nothing extra now

I don't get paid as a Manager or Supervisor and that's not my Job

I'm not going to help them do their own Job that they get paid for

It’s not that at all. They perform the job description just like all their fellow
Colleagues who aren’t getting fired.
There comes a time when you realise that when you work for somebody’s else’s business that it’s not your dream, it’s theirs. Let them put in the unsociable hours, make the difficult decisions because they are the only ones who get rewarded. They can rely on me to do the role needed and to do it well. But unless they are willing to compensate me for doing over and beyond then forget it. In every company there are only select people they are prepared to reward and many whom they have no plans to reward but the jobs still need doing.
