Anonymous Coward User ID: 86080540 United States 03/27/2024 11:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just curious, what does it cost to park your car in Manhattan? Is there any free street parking available? In Chicago, I can still find free street parking usually within a mile of where I need to go. But, I'm up early and usually looking for spots around 5am. Oh, but you also risk your catalytic converter getting stolen in broad daylight....happened to a coworker. Everything about big city living is absolutely miserable. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73847342 United States 03/27/2024 11:21 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I love NYC cuz my properties are cash cows....However you can't pay me to live there....friends think I'm crazy cuz I could live in a duplex apartment in my building in Manhattan rent free.....but I only go into the city once a month for business and that's about all the woke BS I can deal with....in the meanwhile I love my tenants..... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 86941777 United States 03/27/2024 11:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I started parking my car on the street in Westchester county by 2003. It was awful driving NYC then, I can't even imagine what it's like now. I used to do the whole parking routine two times a week, then after a couple of years realized 90% of the people in Manhatten who have cars NEVER USE THEM including me. They just move it around the nieghborhood. By the time I left in 2005, White Plains was already so exspensive and gentrified, it was just another NYC nieghborhood. I still have parking dreams with all the time I spent in the car parking it. You would do bills, read the papers, it wasn't wasted time, but it was still stupid. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84031360 No more. Its such a blessing to pull up to a single family house on a quiet street and have my place there waiting for me, no compition for a "spot" anymore. I only miss the sites of NYC and the food, I don't miss the low quality of life for such a high price. I heard Philly is crap now as well, rents are way down, no one but students wants to live in the city anymore. I moved to Florida last year from Queens, and I know EXACTLY what it was like. I would spend 20mins to 1 hour looking for a spot. And you dont leave in the evening unless it's an emergency. I now have a driveway and garage. I think it left me traumatized or something. The other day I was in the driveway getting ready to pull out when I spotted a car pulled over in front of a house nearby (no one parks on the street here). I said to myself "Oh I better not leave now--I'll lose my spot!" LOLOLOLOLOL!! |

Yeah....didn't miss NYC when I moved out in the late 90's....moving the car for alternate side parking was a full time job even on my day off....had to wake up early to beat the sweepers even when hungover or sick..... |

That’s a first for US cities [link to apnews.com (secure)] For $15 I better be limited by my car's Speed Govenor! Oklahoma has a $6 Turnpike fee with minimum speed limit of 85mph, MINIMUM! I imagine Manhattan is as congested as Chicago, Atlanta, or Los Angeles. What exactly is $15-toll going to do that state taxes aren't able to accomplish besides result in a lot of cases of unpaid tolls that get taxed to the moon ? |
