Rajab Hilal seen in USA on July 3 evening, a sign?

The month of Rajab, 1429 (AH), begins Saturday, with the holy night of Shabe Miraj falling on July 30, a government statement said following an announcement by the National Moon Sighting Committee on Friday.

The moon of the Rajab month was seen in the sky of Bangladesh Friday, the meeting of the committee said.

Religious secretary Muhammad Ataur Rahman, also the vice president of the committee, presided over the meeting.

A letter by Qatar Calendar Organisation on its proposal for the approved calendar, and the crescent moon-sighting on the advent of lunar months and the opinion of the Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs in this regard.

“Start fasting by seeing the moon and end fasting by seeing the moon."

Only to emphasize on “seeing” he said in another tradition that:

“Do not start fasting without seeing the moon and

Do not end it without seeing the moon.”

Over and above, the Qur’an has laid down that New Moons are the “appointed times” for the people. Thus the Qur’an says:

“They will question thee concerning the new moons.

Say: they are appointed times for the people, and the pilgrimage.”

ShabeMeraj means (Night Ascension) the night of Ascent, Israa'/Me'raj Night Journey to Heavens It is the blessed night when the Prophet of Islam was spiritually transported to heaven and he reached a high stage of nearness to God Almighty which is beyond ordinary human comprehension. The Ascent took place on 27th day or Rajab, 2 years before Hijra. The journey was not with a physical body but was a vision of the highest type. On the way the Prophet, met Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus and some other Prophets. The purpose of the Ascent was to confirm the high status of the Prophet of Islam, a position which all Muslims believe, is impossible to attain by any other human being. It is related that even Gabriel, the Angel who was accompanying the Prophet remarked at one stage, 'I am forced to stop here. I cannot go any further, but you O Messenger of peace and friend of the Master of the worlds, continue your glorious ascent.'

It is also related that the Prophet continued his journey until he reached very close to the Throne of God Almighty and attained the utmost nearness to Him. After having drunk fully at the Divine fountain of spiritual knowledge he came down to impart the knowledge to mankind.
