Re: Local, federal agents looking for explosives
I wouldn't be one BIT surprised if -right now- some nutcase was busily scraping sparklers apart to make a bomb [YEAH: the detailed instructions ARE on YouTube!]... but, here's the really scary part: they're not all nutcases.

Some guys are just pyros; the licensed dude I bought my shells from told me it was always his dream to take some smaller 2-1/2" shells and SHOULDER-FIRE them from a homemade BAZOOKA!! And guess what? It really wouldn't be THAT hard to modify them or construct the firing tube! The blast of even one of these shells [legal maximum size sold locally were only 1" diameter - his would be more than TWICE that size] could easily ignite a gastank on a truck and blow the Hell out of it. And yes: he'd lose his license and likely do jailtime if I ratted him out to the BATF. Not gonna' happen, because I trust him as a professional [the crash-course he gave me was very comprehensive as far as safety was concerned]... but, like I said above: YOU NEVER KNOW!!

Re: Local, federal agents looking for explosives
I'm just concerned why there is thought to be explosives missing. Even the way the story broke in the media is kind of strange. Something about the story just doesn't feel right to me.

Actually, I would tend to agree; something's odd about this. Since this is a conspiracy forum after all (and a very entertaining one!), it did occur to me to wonder: if there were to be some sort of major explosives-related "incident" in America's heartland, a few days or weeks from now...then might this conveniently timed "press release" be a kind of CYA? The feds could always say, "well, we WERE looking..." You can draw your own conclusions as to whom you might think would be responsible for such an "incident", should it occur.

[looking under table: "um, no explosives HERE"; looking behind chair: "nope, no explosives here, either"]

There are rumors that the invasion on Iran has already been launched, albeit in an "unofficial" form. Currently, I understand this to mean Bush has given approval to the Israelis to launch strikes against Iran. (Got this info from Yahoo News and a few other major news outlets last Friday.) However, widespread public support for the war against Iran does not exist.

Let me look into my crystal ball [mist slowly clearing away]...

(1) An attack on the "homeland", attributed to the usual suspects (i.e. 'terists'--but this time, in line with the "Homegrown terist act" legislation passed last fall, this would probably be "homegrown" terists such as people who wear Levi's, protest eminent domain, talk about the constitution, and post on sites such as this, see [link to www.keepandbeararms.com] and [link to www.propagandamatrix.com] along with

(2) a major economic catastrophe(s) such as massive bank failures, major panic/run on the banks, market crash, etc. (see the other pinned threads)--these events would probably be enough to "justify" martial law, since all that's needed now is a "trigger" (economic collapse, major earthquake, nationwide riots, etc.) to kick things into gear. Of course, martial law would mean there would be no need to get public support behind the war. And...can you say, "WWIII and no elections in 2008 (or ever), boys and girls?" I knew you could.

Then again, maybe I'm reading too much into this. I hope so. Uh, have a nice day.

Re: Local, federal agents looking for explosives
I'm NOT suggesting that Wichita is a valuable target for a false-flag event, but we may certainly be a considered one:

1. We've been in the world press from the Greensburg tornadic destruction so people actually know where we are [remember the good old days when people said... "Wichita: that's in Texas, ain't it?"] and can now connect a place and it's people to an event.

2. Bush visited Wichita and Greensburg not once, but TWICE in the last year; I always figured he was checking us out to see if we were expendable and large enough for the entire world to take notice.

3. Last year we had that MASSIVE FEMA drill downtown that called in experts from all across this region as they simulated a catastrophic event - including the dynamiting of abandoned buildings. It actually looked lke a war-zone down there [I know: I visited it several times]... and, all in the name of preparation.

4. The general concept of Wichitans has always been that we are a friendly, accessable community with ample resources and a high quality of life [sometimes highly boring, but quality nevertheless]. What BETTER way to sell sympathy to the American people than to wipe all us good, decent folk off the face of the map? The groundswell for retaliation would be staggering.

5. Our geographic location would be ideal for selling the idea that our 'enemies' can/will strike ANYWHERE - even into the very center of the United States.

FELLOW KANSANS: keep your eyes/ears OPEN!! This story is starting to smell like three-day old fish.

Re: Local, federal agents looking for explosives
If I had to pinpoint a possible local target that would seize media attention, I say it would be Wichita State University. To destroy a center for advanced learning [which includes programs involving sophisticated avionics] and thousands of innocent students would be ideal, and shockingly criminal. Also nearby is a promising center for the development of underpriviledge urban children and a burgeoning black community finally being given [long-overdue] revitalisation... this is the same center that President Clinton visited during their ribbon-cutting ceremonies. What an ugly scenario this would be.
