It IS possible and Iam living it. Last sept. my daughter lost her baby when she was 7 months pregnant. A beautiful little boy named matthew. we were allowed to hold him and bond with him , if only for a little while. his cord was around his little neck and i was in the room (ultrasound) when they discovered he was gone. Never have i felt such anguish and despair. we had love him so much. My dd and sil had tried so hard to get pregnant and fertility drug clomid was used. After Matthew went away Dr. told them thy should try again soon because the chances were high at that time for conception. well she got preg. in 4 months and now she is 7 months preg with a little girl, Sarah. We(me and husband) are still mourning our little grandson and trying to celebrate the grandbaby that will be here in oct. To have Matthew here, we can't have Sarah and to have Sarah here we can;t have Matthew. Do you see where our emotions are now ? All of this and my husband was given only 6 months to live last christmas. He has cancer and we have been in the fight of our lives for 2 years. 465 hours of chemo, stem cell transplant and he is worse. alternative treatments are now being used. YES you can be the happiest and the saddest at the same time. IT is Hell !!!

You check your Lotto ticket....you just won 40 million dollars....Your cell phone rings and it's your fiance telling you she slept with your brother and because he was so much better...the engagement is off...

Thank you *only me* and *analog guy* for your words of kindness. we all have stuggles in this life and i know you know what this hell feels like also. my hope is that you and others try to hang on to the best things and think about them to get you through the bad things. love to you all. as long as there are people that shine us a little light when we're in a little dark we'll make it .....

definitely. my mom passed away 2+ wks ago. i was sad and happy at the same time. sad because i won't visually see her anymore ('cept in dreams or pics). happy because she was ill for many years and won't suffer anymore.

So, not quite as scarce as I originally thought. But, I am talking about the extreme of both feelings at exactly the same time and both about the exact same event. One feeling does NOT cancel the other. So what are you left with?

As a father, I'm dreadding the day my eldest daughter gets married. I will be a total mess.

1) happy that she has grown into adulthood and starting a new life.

2) devastated that I'll be loosing my little girl.

I'm teary at the thought of it already and she is only 10 years old. Boy oh boy will I be a mess on her wedding day.

I live it everyday so Yes. Spiritually, I am so fulfilled and growing and happy there, but in real life I am so disappointed and part of me just wants to leave here. I won't kill myself, but I do feel like that.
