When he raises corporate taxes and raises all our personal taxes by eliminating the Bush tax cuts that affect almost EVERYONE here, effectively raising taxes everywhere, capital is going to flee this county, lowering tax revenues. Higher taxes on businesses will choke the economy.

The speech was 42 minutes..I hardly think most here are in the 250k plus income range. As for taxes choking the businesses I would say that the last few year of bush have done plenty of that save for the very very top few corporations. See without customers they have no business.

You both do not understand the income tax. There are plans to actually do away with this tax in the next few years. Even FEDRES states it is outdated.

Obama CAN lower 95% of workers INCOME taxes and STILL do the things he wants to do. Personal income taxes are a very small part of the tax code. Corporate and ad valorem taxes will more than make up for the paltry income taxes.

You are just imagining that he would raise income taxes. I will tell you something. People of color will not be afraid to chase his rear end down if they found out another man of color that they put their hope in lied to them. You can bet on that.

But just taking his word for it, you can have the cake and eat the ice cream. You just have to know what taxes fund what programs before going off into the deep end.

You know....I've been with glp now for many years, and while I may agree with many of the so-called conspiracy theories talked about on this site. Not necessarily believe that they are real, but believe enough to look into them and question everything that goes on in this country and this world. GLP, has caused me to open my eyes, put away my selfish indifference, and be aware of the hidden agendas of the elite and those in power and control of this world.

With that said...I'm only on page one of this thread, but I'm sitting her shaking my head at the underlying distrust and disdain for this election in the posts that have been posted so far...

I'm not saying that I'm "Obamafied" to the point where I'm not questioning this man's very fast rise to the most powerful office in the world. This very fact alone, causes me to stop and really question all that is happening in the political arena of the most powerful country in the world.
But I have to ask...HOW CAN ANYONE who watched this speech tonight not be moved in some way????? How can ANYONE not sense the historical moment that happened before our very eyes today?????? PEOPLE WAKE UP!!!! Something VERY important is happening right now, good or bad, that is not the point. The point is, that you have had the opportunity to witness something happening in history tonight that your grand children and great grand children will be reading about in their history books! You have taken part, just by being here in a VERY historical moment. A moment that 45 years ago was but a mere dream in the eyes of a man whom many considered to be a great leader also for change. You are witnessing this country on the very cusp of change, a change that for better or for worse will be HUGE! How can you not feel it, sense in in your very bones?????!

At one time this speech may have inspired me. Now I know it's all talk and empty promises to get the vote and then big bussiness and whoever it is pulling the strings will take it from there. The only candidate running that gave me hope was Ron Paul. He represented real change but of course was silenced by TPTB and ignored by the sheep. If you want to be inspired listen to Ron Paul. That man can bring tears to my eyes and now I mourn for this country. I think this election was the last chance we had to get it right and we failed. Kiss what was left of America goodbye.

You are very welcome, Lady Wolf, and I agree with your sentiments.

We ARE witnessing history, and as I said earlier, I am proud of how far we have come in our country.

This made me suspect that this will be one of the most scrutinized votes we will ever see in our lifetime. The process will and MUST have the oversight of independent organizations such as the one Jimmy Carter was involved with in order to insure the vote.

I don't trust that November's vote will be accurate at all.
