Re: The VP Candidates Family
OP, go fuck yourself you fucking hypocrite. Don't dare say this is the most vile thing you've ever seen, if so, then you haven't been paying attention very long.

Personally, the most vile thing I've seen in politics is the smear campaign orchestrated by karl rove agaisnt John McCain in the 2000 South Carolina republican primaries. Rove created phone polls, printed flyers and created local tv and radio ads targeting the evangelical voters of the state of S.C. asking them if they would vote for John McCain if they were aware he fathered an illigitimate black child.

The fact that he and his wife adopted a little girl from a Bangladesh orphanage was an afterthought as the idea that mccain could actually do such a thing was already in the pea sized brains of the voters.

And of course, Mccain is now working closely with rove who no doubt will use the attacks on palins daughter in the republicans favor.

waaaaah

You heard of politics? This is what it is.

If she did not want the scrutiny she coulda told McCain, no thanks.

I don't fucking believe how ridiculous you Bush voters are.

Pretending to be chivalrous over something that is legitimate. If you guys were chivalrous you would be demanding Bush and McCain be executed for killing tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi women and children.

SO......uh, FUCK OFF NUMBNUT LIMBALL LISTENER. DOUCHEY RIGHT WING DICKWAD.

Re: The VP Candidates Family
The issue isn't so much the daughter's alleged sexual activities; many teenage girls from well-to-do families get pregnant. The issue is the coverup. As many have already responded, it's the Republican party's own rhetoric that gets it in trouble. It this story is true, then the GOP (or Palin) must have felt that a pregnant teenage daughter would have made her seem like a bad mother and therefore unfit for a major leadership role in the party. On hindsight, they could have spun it like a true pro-lifer that they claim to be, that is, yes my daughter made a mistake but we are going to stick together as a family and raise this child. I think the American public would have loved that story. But if the allegations turn out to be true, the GOP is ruined for a long time. I can't believe that it the GOP leadership knew about this that they would have put her up for the VP spot. Way too risky.

Re: The VP Candidates Family
Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska is known for being attractive, forceful and stickler for reform. Challenging circumstances now also have made her a shining example of personal pro-life convictions. In December, her doctor told her that prenatal tests indicated the child she was expecting in May would be born with Down syndrome, a genetic condition that stems from an extra chromosome and that impedes a child's physical, intellectual and language development. Only one year into her governorship and with four children at home already, a child with Down syndrome would present serious challenges. Studies in the late 90s showed that more than 80 percent of prenatal Down syndrome diagnoses end in abortion. Ending the pregnancy, however, was never an option for the Palins. On April 18, Sarah Palin gave birth to a 6-pound, 2-ounce son, Trig Paxson Van Palin. "We've both been very vocal about being pro-life," Palin told the Associated Press, speaking of herself and her husband, Todd. "We understand that every innocent life has wonderful potential." The day after the birth, the Palins released the following statement: "Trig is beautiful and already adored by us. We knew through early testing he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives. We have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make this world a better place. We are truly blessed." Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women of America, commended Gov. Palin, telling WND that she "is even more beautiful inside than out. Her proud and warm announcement of the birth of their special child revealed the depth of love and faith of this extraordinary woman. May God give America more women and statesmen like her." Trig Paxson Van Palin gets his unusual name from a number of sources. Grandfather Chuck Heath told KTUU in Anchorage that Trig is named after his great uncle, a Bristol Bay fisherman, and Paxson comes from a well-known snow-machining area in Alaska. The middle name Van, however, may have the most interesting origin. Gov. Palin joked with an Anchorage Daily News reporter that she and Todd have "always liked the middle name Van because, you know, growing up in the '80s, Van Palin would be a really cool name." Three days after the birth, the governor brought baby Trig and husband Todd to her office in Anchorage. There seemed to be little slowdown for the governor who in her short tenure so far has line-item vetoed massive sections of the state budget, taken on her own party's state chairman for ethics violations and fired the Alaska Board of Agriculture. "It's a sign of the times to be able to do this," she told the Associated Press. "I can think of so many male candidates who watched families grow while they were in office. My baby will not be at all or in any sense neglected." Gov. Palin has some precedent to follow. US Rep. Pete Sessions of Texas has a son with Down syndrome. US Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, a Washington state Republican, is campaigning for her third term, even while she celebrates the fire birthday of her son Cole, also born the genetic anomaly. "It's in human nature to focus on the negative," Rodgers said, "on what the person can't do. In our mind, we are focused on what he can do, what he will be able to do and do very well." Gov. Palin has a similar outlook. In an e-mail she sent to relatives and friends the day of Trig's birth, she wrote: "Many people will express sympathy, but you don't want or need that, because Trig will be a joy. Children are the most precious and promising ingredient in this mixed-up world. Trig is no different, except he has one extra chromosome."

I gave up a very important career to raise two small HEALTHY children. I am back now that they are teens. But is this the right time for someone who espouses family values to do this job? It is a question that I know many mother and fathers have but may not want to say out loud.

Re: The VP Candidates Family
To see the news sources spreading all sorts of info and probably some dis-info on Palin's daughter, pregnancy, unmarried status, etc., is the most vile thing I've ever seen what passes for reporting in this country do!

I was sick when I had to see and then read the 40 million dollar Star Report where in that perverted old reprobate, Ken Star, gave us the gory details of President Clinton's trysts with Monica Lewinski. That was shameful enough. But at least they were both adults!

To attack the VP Candidates' daughter who is apparently seventeen and perhaps pregnant is reprehensible! That girl is not running for office. Her mother is! It sickens me to think that even the press would jump on this bandwagon and so gleefully report it.

The sexual preferences, and activities of the candidates themselves should be off limits unless and until they cross into areas of illegality (ie: Minors, Prostitutes, Non-consensual sex, etc.) and the sexual lives and deeds of their minor children should NEVER be used as fodder for the selling of news papers or commercial time on the broadcast news. The fact that a president has a mistress (or a male lover for that matter) is NONE OF MY BUSINESS! I don't care and don't want to know! His wife and her attorney may be interested in those facts, but as a citizen, I am not!

I do want to know how he or she votes on critical issues, where they stand on the military industrial complex that's ruining this world, and what they intend to do about our dependence on oil, the crashing US economy, the illegal Federal reserve bank and it's actions, and a few million other things that are far far more interesting and important than who they or their children have been sleeping with or what they may have done in those various beds!

Whether Fox, or ABC, or CNN or NBC broke this story - I could care less - other than I'll know which of them to avoid in the future. I would like to get these young journalists and set them down and explain to them that while a public figure may forfeit his/her right to privacy, their minor children do not. Frankly, I would love to see the reporters and papers and media outlets who have deemed this "newsworthy" vs a private and potentially tragic mistake sent back to school and forced to take the ethics class that they so obviously flunked the first time around. Or do they still teach ethics in schools of Journalism today?

This is VILE and it sickens me. I'm a 5th Generation Card Carrying Kennedy-esque DEMOCRAT and Proud of it. But this time, the news media and their band of jackals have attacked a child - a child who's in a very difficult position, and made her a laughing stock and held her up for public humiliation for nothing more than selling their sleazy rags or newscasts. This should not even be visited upon a Republican.

If the media had any decency left, they would en masse start printing full page apologies to the candidate and her family! But I doubt they would even understand the word "decency" as I've used it herein. And they're probably too cheap to print and pay for a full page apology, too!

The once proud Forth Estate has now shat upon the entire nation! They are beneath our collective contempt for this!

Well said Mark and Obama is smart enough that he is TRYING to call of the attack dogs because he knows that your reaction is the norm and this could backfire on him

Yes I am a parent, I was a working mum that ran a business, as well as bring up a child and do charity work.

It is not a natural question to ask when it is none of your business.

A down syndrome baby is not disabled, they can walk, talk, hear and go to school like other children. They are pure unconditional love and a joy to have around.

Her eldest is in the army, the next is 17 and having a baby of her own. As far as I am concerned an 18 year old is not a child anymore.

So in reality we are talking about two children one of 14, one of seven and the baby that she carries around with her. How do you know that these children are not away at school. How do you know these children live at home the whole time?

Just because you gave up your career does not mean that Sarah Palin has to give up hers. Thank God that God gave us human rights and free will to choose.

The judgements and accusations on this thread apply to people stating them and it is obvious that Sarah Palin is triggering a lot of peoples personal issues. So look within!

I am defending this woman's human right to choose how to run her own life and family.

What happened to the USA what it represented, its ideals? There is nothing but a shell of hypocrisy that the rest of the world laughs at and in some instants hates. Do any of you right wing Republicans at any cost, realize who has been selected for you. Do you even realize how foolish you look defending McCain and his choice. PAAAAFUCKNINGLEASE. Palin is everything you rail against. Teen pregnancy, unwed mothers, irresponsible parenting, inexperience, and lies. Everything the right criticizes is what this Alaska family entails and personally its alright with me but not you hard hitting righties, but what really grinds my gears is when you all are confronted with this as one of your own and what you hope to be a heart beat from the POTUS you don't say shit. The Right Wing Christian Minister says we all make mistakes, and all can be forgiven unless your from the left wing. Well let me tell you I am not left or right and I despise any who try to group us one way or another. I believe in tolerance. The self proclaimed group called the right wing does not but when they are confronted with a situation such as Sarah Palin for VP they are forced to change there thought process. In Psychology its called cognitive dissonance and that is happening now here in the USA with millions of sad disconnected souls. We the tolerant must pray and visualize what we want to become of these weaker consciousnesses and bring the future we wish to us. IF not this country will become weaker and the disconnect will continue as crime rates will rise and house foreclosures will continue like wildfire and Banks tumble down all around us. There are many very sleepy souls incarnate in the USA and the train has been on the wrong track for 8 years. Its time to visualize 86,000 people welcoming in an era of prosperity as the swearing in of a man that has peace and equality on his mind and his hand on the bible swearing to up hold the key thing that keeps this country great on a mid-evil planet the US Constitution.

Was Barrack's family off limits when Sean Hannity said on his show he wanted to take up a collection for his half brother in Africa?

No.

McCain didn't say shit.

This self-righteous woman Palin and man McCain want to regulate your life. They want to tell you abstinence only works, when it doesn't even work in their own life. They want to tell you you can't have access to birth control. They want to tell you that you can't have an abortion even if you are raped. The vile lies & innuendo about her new son are disgusting. Slimy belly crawlers spewing venom about an infant & his mother. How much lower can it possibly get?

To the poster who said America has become a Springer nation, you nailed it.
Thanks to that son of a bitch, the entire world views all Americans as Springer fodder. It's a shame someone didn't take Springer out, years ago.

Unfortunately, what the world is seeing is not a realistic view of average Americans. Millions of intelligent, educated, hard working, family oriented, good citizens.

We can thank every branch of the media for their non stop portrayal of our country & her people as nothing but a bunch of trash.

To the people calling for Palin to release her private medical records to satisfy your morbid fascination with the unsubstantiated rumors, you do not deserve to live under the protections put in place to keep your medical records out of public view.

You people are a huge part of the many problems in this country. Idiot box watching, KOS reading, non thinkers. Lead around by that leash around your necks, behaving like rabid dogs.

I cannot say the same thing for the Republicans who are nothing but hypocrites and liars. Oh, but it's okay per Laura Bush and Cindy McCain. If it was Obama's daughter they would be shuddering and raising issues as to morality. That's the mindset of these assclowns. Nothing but a bunch of hypocrites.

I don't even want to hear what the evangelical nutcases have to say!
