REDWOOD NATIONAL PARK, Calif.—Authorities have discovered thousands of marijuana plants growing in Redwood National Park.
Park rangers detained four men and a woman near the area where the growing operation was found near Schoolhouse Peak. They were taken to Eureka for questioning about their possible involvement.

The plants were cut down and removed by helicopter after agents discovered the marijuana growing on four to five acres of park land Wednesday. Agents from several state and federal agencies helped destroy the plants.

While marijuana has been found growing on public lands for years, officials say they're finding larger, more damaging operations—many of them connected to gangs with ties to Mexico.

The plants were found on logging company easements within the park. Since the park came to be these old time logging operations can no longer take the trees. Maybe they decided to grow a different kind of cash crop.

The feds have been running around up here in the hundreds for weeks looking for growing operations. Maybe they were taking the 'hide in plain sight' approach. I sure wish they would legalize it and get these damn CAMPers out of the citizen's back yards! Fascists that they are.

Hundreds of pot plants found in woods

PLUM CITY, Wis.—Sheriff's officials have uncovered a vast marijuana growing operation in the woods of western Wisconsin.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department says it found 300 to 500 plants in the woods near Plum City. Authorities say the 180 pounds of marijuana has a street value of more than a quarter million dollars.

Deputies say the marijuana was found on private property, but the landowner apparently had no knowledge of it.

Investigators think five people are involved in the growing operation. None are in custody.

357,500 marijuana plants

Authorities say it's the biggest pot bust in Cocke County in the last five years, maybe more.

Around 10 a.m. Monday, helicopter pilots spotted hundreds of thousands of marijuana plants growing in the Cherokee National Forest in Cocke County.

They alerted officers on the ground, and the crew trekked more than a mile into the forest from Interstate 40, where they came upon what they call a DTO, or drug trafficking organization.

"They just live in it, move in, grow, and that's all they're there to do is grow marijuana," Special Agent Jason Poore said of the growers.

Poore is part of the Governor's Task Force on Marijuana Eradication, which is a cooperation among several agencies, including the Alcohol Beverage Commission, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the National Guard Counter Drug Task Force.

Poore says the task force is seeing more and more of the DTOs, which he says are usually manned by illegal immigrants who spend four months at a time doing nothing but harvesting the crops.

Monday's bust netted around 357,500 marijuana plants, which were very young.

Poore says, if they had been allowed to grow and fully mature, the plants could have been worth more than $700 million on the street.

"Everybody gets up that's got jobs, and they go and they pay taxes, they do normal things, where these guys, they get up every day, they water their marijuana, they stay with it four months out of the year, and they're gonna bring in millions of dollars tax-free that the rest of us have to pay taxes on," Poore said. "Aside from that, this is the same drugs that's getting to the kids, different people across the state, and across the U.S."

No one was guarding the plants when authorities showed up Monday.

They say several agencies will now work to track down those responsible.

Thats how they have been doing it for many years. These pot head dealers go on other peoples property and grow the stuff so their asses can't be found and the owner can have his land seized by the NAZI government.

This whole drug thing is a dirty bunch of crap from the cops and the druggies. More innocent people get hurt than the guilty scumbags.

So if I bought weed and it had seeds in it, and one or two of these seeds accidentally fell into my flowerbeds, would they germinate and grow?

Everyone could probably hide a weed plant along the fence in the back alley where all the acceptable weeds live that can't be reached with a lawn mower?

Mexican gangs growing thousands of plants on private property. How long can that really go unnoticed by the private property owner? Seems strange to me that the CAMPers discovered the plants before the landowners did.
