I agree, why should our government get the GOLDEN parachute after running our country into a ground... They talk about all the CEO's and their bailout plan, lets talk about the bailout plan of the federal government. I say we end the governments golden parachute and demand they vote NO on the current bill before them. |
anonanon (OP) User ID: 269684 ![]() 09/24/2008 05:09 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I said IRS taxpayers....not illegals who have paid no taxes or taxes under a stolen or fake identity and then sucked off all manner of benefits in the states and local communities they have flooded in. They get nothing and deserve nothing. No. This would be strictly for those who have actually paid taxes. On re-thinking it, instead of setting an over 30 age, maybe we just say paid federal taxes for ten or more years as citizens since turning 18. I don't think the amount paid in matters because it is all relative but the fact that you did pay in. On tonight's news, it is being reported that the banking and investment lobbyists are all flying into DC to inundate Congress and the Senate because they don't like the idea of limits on corporate paychecks or bankruptcy judges being able to rewrite mortgage terms and a whole lot of other things. In other words, they want the massive bailout but none of the things that go with a bailout. If the US government is going to be the majority stock holder in all these firms, then everyone in them should be paid on the same pay scale/grades as those in the federal government. Let most of them live on a mailman's salary for a change. But mostly I think it is better the money be used to bail out the taxpayers and let all of those companies and their execs suck it up the way the rest of us do whenever those clowns screw up the economy. I will be happy to take the check with whatever conditions they want to put on it like it has to be used to pay off a mortgage, or buy a home if you lost one, get out of all kinds of debts. Whatever is fine with me. I am sure it would be fine with most people who might actually enjoy feeling financially free in life. |

anonanon (OP) User ID: 272356 ![]() 10/19/2008 08:35 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Actually, no. A million dollars doesn't go as far as it used to. And considering that some people owe over 50 grand in student loans, even higher in credit card debts, and two and three mortgages with their greed for massive homes and cars, it wouldn't last long enough to quit working forever except perhaps for retirees. Even with the falling prices of homes, there are still plenty of very overpriced homes still out there. So, it would help people get out of debt and pay off those loans and credit cards. And maybe, just maybe, some of those who really went wild with the debts have learned that they have to live within their means and save for things they want. |

Assuming all other factors remain equal, expect everything to cost at least 4x the current prices in America if every American is given $1,000,000. |
jbaade User ID: 648461 ![]() 04/02/2009 10:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I agree with this idea but think there should be a few more requirements. I think that if the government where to do something like this prices must become fixed for 1 year. Housing, auto, food, insurance, college, fuel, etc would all have to become frozen at there current levels. At that point the people receiving the money would be required to pay off all debts, build/buy a home, purchase a new car, and set up a financial portfolio i.e. kids college fund and retirement fund. This would allow the banks/creditors to recoup their monies, the auto industry would have a boost in sales/production, housing industry would get back on track, and Wall Street would see a jump in investments. After the completed year anyone with a remaining balance would donate the rest to charity. I know this is a little far fetched but it would work and in my opinion is a better approach than throwing money at the people who already messed up. Why not give the PEOPLE a chance to help themselves. It is already our tax dollars of the future being spent so why not try this out. |

simple man User ID: 901166 ![]() 02/26/2010 11:36 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I hae been saying this since day one. Give everyone over a certain age 1 million dollars. There are only about 140 million taxpayers in the US, so even if you gave everyone who pays taxes 1 million, the government would still be saving 786 billon dollars. What would I do, probably buy another house and car. I wouldn't be the only one. Car industry and housing market problems--- solved. Another person had the same concern. Prices would skyrocket for everything, so that would have to be addressed by someone far smarter than me. And to the person that said it was non-sense and we all just want a handout from the government.... you are right, it makes much more sense to give billions of dollars to car companies and another few billion to banks. Still don't understand that at all. It's not like my bank said, "Hey, we just got 10 billion dollars from Obama, so let's just forget about that mortgage you have". Oh, it's for them to loan money out? Isn't that what got us into this problem to begin with? Brilliant solution. They can give Chevy (or any other make) all the money they want, it's not going to make me go out and buy one. |
