I agree with this idea but think there should be a few more requirements. I think that if the government where to do something like this prices must become fixed for 1 year. Housing, auto, food, insurance, college, fuel, etc would all have to become frozen at there current levels. At that point the people receiving the money would be required to pay off all debts, build/buy a home, purchase a new car, and set up a financial portfolio i.e. kids college fund and retirement fund. This would allow the banks/creditors to recoup their monies, the auto industry would have a boost in sales/production, housing industry would get back on track, and Wall Street would see a jump in investments. After the completed year anyone with a remaining balance would donate the rest to charity. I know this is a little far fetched but it would work and in my opinion is a better approach than throwing money at the people who already messed up. Why not give the PEOPLE a chance to help themselves. It is already our tax dollars of the future being spent so why not try this out.
