Asking for advice from Reiki/healers about working with Autistic children/Family members of Autistic children welcomed, too...
I have gone through the application process for a Behavioral Therapist position working with an Autistic child in my area. They are very eager to interview me, quickly. The thing is, I was informed today by a friend who works in the Human Services arena that this particular child goes through therapists like water running through a sieve because the child is very difficult.

Now, I realize that working with Autistic children is not without its difficulties in the first place, but I have this gut/intuitive feeling that bringing Reiki skills to the table may be helpful to overcoming this particular child's greater difficulties...or at least helping to demagnify the difficulties.

In particular I'm looking at the possiblity of utilizing Karuna Reiki's "Zonar" symbol as it has an anesthetizing affect. In theory it should work to calm the child so the Behavioral Therapy has a chance.

Since all of this came up today I've not yet had a chance to discuss this with my perspective employers, nor am I necessarily comfortable with doing so. Such out of the norm modalities are often frowned on by mainstream therapies, and Behavioral Therapy is very mainstream.

Please understand that I have never before done any Reiki treatments on anyone without their explicit permission because I find to do otherwise is unethical, but in this case I'm rethinking that...and seriously, I'm only thinking about it.

I'm also considering that I should let the job go because I have a strong work ethic and I am concerned that if I get the job, find out it's more than I can handle (as have others with more experience and creditials than I have), then I will have wasted their's and my time. I think it would be a disservice to the child and his family to have yet one more therapist come and go.

Really, though, I'm wondering if some Reiki therpy, whether it's known I'm using it or not, might be a factor that's going to put this child's progress in forward motion.

Given there are still unknowns on my part for not having met the child or feeling out the employer during an interview about how they might feel about a modality like Reiki I'm just seeking advice from fellow Reiki healers, other modality healers, and family members of Autistic children.

Have any healers here worked with Autistic children? How was it? What'd you do? Results?

Have family members had their child worked with by Reiki healers, or other non-traditional healing modalities? How was it? Were you happy with the results?

Given I do have a strong ethic regarding working with others without permission, and if you have/had such yourself, would you consider that doing so in such as is this case might be an exception to the rule...in other words, going with the "spirit of the law" rather than the "letter of the law"?

I did use the GLP search engine about this subject matter, but came up with threads mostly about causes of Autism. Although its cause is important, I'm really wanting to hone in on the above questions exclusively, if you don't mind.

Any well intended advice is very welcomed.

Hi There,

Yes I work with children on the autistic spectrum and also with those that show very challenging behaviour who haven't been diagnosed with Autism.

Reiki is a wonderful gift; All the children I work alongside appear to calm very quickly during their sessions.

When I work with some young people who aren't registered to recieve Reiki, but I can feel the Reiki flowing, in these cases I don't channel to the individual but the let the gift work its magic.

try bentonite clay baths
try chelation to rid the body of heavy metals. Vaccines are loaded with toxic heavy metals one of which is mercury

I'm convinced that there would be very few children suffering from autism if they had not received any vaccines. Google autism and Amish, you'll see that the Amish people have no children with autism; the reason, they do not vaccinate their children
