you're lucky if you can do that. Back in Germany post ww1 companies would pay their workers in cash at noon and let them go grocery shopping then so they'd still be able to buy a loaf of bread with their whole check.
Hitler rose to power during this time because people had a pretty shitty time of it and would do anything to make it stop.

Have your wages gone up since the gas prices went crazy?
How about 20-50% increases in price of food staples?
Rent higher?
Heating bills out of sight?
