This is an image used to show that our spiritual ideal is to be absorbed by the Lord so that we may dwell within Him. All truly spiritual persons have understood there is nothing more desirable than to be eaten, absorbed by the Lord. And this is why they offer themselves in sacrifice to Him. But how many have truly understood what sacrifice is? The word itself instils fear in people because they associate it with the idea of pain and death. This is true in the lower regions: if we are devoured by lower entities then we are lost. But if we offer ourselves up to the celestial entities we become richer, we grow, we become more beautiful, in other words, we resurrect. Do not be afraid, have the courage to offer yourself in sacrifice to God."
