Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi Blow It: Playing Politics With Your Retirement

Barney Frank and Nancy Pelosi decided they would get cute on Monday and one trillion dollars of American wealth was lost. Pelosi and Frank are partisan Democrats and the two lawmakers decided to rip into Republicans on Monday and blame them for the financial woes of the country.

On Monday in the middle of a fight to try and ram a bloated $700 billion "rescue bill" (aka a big Wall Street bailout gift to bankers) Nancy Pelosi decided that she would rail against Republicans and place all of the blame for the economic crisis at the feet of the opposition party. Was she playing politics with your retirement? Of course.
And that didn't work all that well. The bill failed with 228 members of the US House voting against it and Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank looked like fools as they tried to explain that this too was the Republicans fault. The Democrats run congress and set the agenda and they have the votes but Pelosi and Frank absolutely blew it.
Now they are taking a few days off while telling us all we are in a crisis. Democrats in the US Congress have been in power for two years and their approval ratings are now at an all-time low. Pelosi and Frank certainly aren't helping.
