If it's just a muffler and tail pipe - no worries. May be a couple hundred to fix." nice, thanks, now i just gotta get her back to town in one piece, thankfully im making boats loads of cash out here in the boonies, can afford that! |

ambiguity unlimited User ID: 518457 ![]() 10/06/2008 01:30 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | ok, now if you have the euro exhaust....you take off the muffler end of the pipe....if its held by the rubber orings, just lever them off the ears, and the muffler section falls to the ground....if it has the strap hangers, then you have to cut the straps, a serrated knife, or a hacksaw blade is the best to use, but a regular smooth face knife will work, it'll just take a bit longer....once the muffler and pipe are free, toss them in the trunk, if the mufflers still good, it'll save you a couple bucks... do the same sling magic on the front pipe that i described in the other post, wash your hands, drink a beer, and pat yourself on the back..... |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 482701 ![]() 10/06/2008 12:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We were heading to a farm in the Scottish border region for a New Year's Eve party. We were in an old Mini Cooper(pre-BMW). On the road up to the farm we bottomed out and scraped a hole in the plastic fuel line and lost all our fuel. I was able to remove the line, got a dry-cleaning bag from the hostess and welded the hole shut using the bag and a lighter. Put the fuel line in, bought a gallon of gas from the farmer, and off we went! Your car will run fine without a muffler. Try to wire it up so it doesn't scrape. Be careful in reverse. Also, if you have the parts and can get a hold of some aluminum foil tape(super sticky and very shape-able, I always have some on hand for camping trips and road trips}, you could probably rig the thing back together. You could use a soup can as a coupler. |
