What Does This Mean? USMC on Police Frequency?
So I'm passively listening to the the local PD frequencies in the background when they begin their radio checks. All's typical for a time. "Unit 24." "Unit 24 clear." "Unit 25." "Unit 25 clear." But then I hear this: "Marine uniform." "Marine uniform clear." "Hazmat 1." "Hazmat 1 clear." "Reserve 101" "Reserve 101 clear."

So...

Well the HAZMAT is the one of the three which I'm not really sure how unusual it is. I figure the PD does have a HAZMAT team for chemical spills and what-not. Reserve 101 could refer to some police reserves or something.

But "Marine uniform" is definitely interesting, and obviously appears to imply the USMC. The fact that Hazmat and Reserves were checked immediately after "Marine uniform" is what made me decide to list them too.

Marine could mean it has something to do with the water. Maybe busting a lab in a house boat or something.

Sure. Except I used to be exposed to these frequencies daily at work. I've never heard "Marine uniform" before, nor have I heard of "Reserve 101." Plus that's the only unit which has that peculiar designation, "Marine uniform." No numbers. It clearly sticks out.

And yes I've heard this particular shifts radio checks before on multiple occasions.

The Marines could have just been on the wrong freq. and doing some exercise. I doubt it is anything. Or it could mean DOOM!!!!

No that was a radio check. The SLPD were contacting all units attached to that dispatcher to ensure their radios were in working order, and "Marine Uniform" was one such attached unit. Not a mistake.
