Dow -4000 points on the year
The dow has lost roughly 4000 points since this time last year. That in and of itself is an amazing number.

also

Gas is up roughly .75-1.00 per gallon since one year ago.

Oil is up roughly $30.00 per barrel since one year ago.

Wow, that is a lot. Going down gradually like it has, no one is too alarmed. Reminds me of the old analogy of a frog in water. Heat it up to a boil slowly and he doesn't suspect a thing.

That's your gamble. They're not a sure thing.

Who would you buy that's so cheap now that has a large probability of popping back up?

Speaking of amazing drops, the Nikkei closed trading at 18,211.68 on July 20, 2007. It closed today (10/8/2008) at 9,203.32. That is almost down by half - 9,000.48 points in a little over a year. Incredible.
