If you don't have several months of food and supplies tucked away RIGHT NOW, you are going to suffer. There's still plenty on the shelves at your grocer, and there's food in the field...so you have no excuses.

People don't understand that "Just In Time" (JIT) deliveries mean that there aren't any "extras" stocked at the back of your fav cheap supermarket. The stores no longer keep stock in back because it's expensive to maintain, so they put in JIT orders.

But these days, JIT takes longer because trucks wait for FULL loads (in order to save on their expenses).

And most importantly -- JIT requires trucks, and trucks require fuel, but trucks don't always pay for fuel with cash...they more often pay for it with CREDIT.

Credit is drying up. In the weeks and months to come, it's going to get worse. So when your grocer runs out of your favorite national brand of milk, you are screwed. When your eggs can't get thru, you are screwed. When trucks can't get flour to the baker, and the baker can't truck the bread to your store, you are screwed.

If you aren't prepping now, you are screwed.

SO TRUE. beans, rice, spam, cporned beef, meal, flour can be frozen to guarantee that larva do not hatch into weevils after 2 weeks in the freezer punch many holes in the plastic bag with a pin and leave in a warm room on a towel In 2006 I still had Y@K just in case food left. Cheap insurance and cheaper than all the freze dried foods. i stored it in buckets from Winn Dixie's bake shop having omly held frosting and icing which were easily cleaned out with HOT water and a lil Clorox and with the snap on lids. I made spaghetti in June 2006 with past I had marked as put in the freezer and "tenmpuratre equalized" in october of 1999. i did not have too much but a few buckets. 25# of sugar will fit in a 5 gal bucket and even idf openedthe woprst it will do is clump a little. many store won't give you buckets anymore but on Fri sat the WD would crush about 20-25 every week if i didn't get there in time. istill got about 12-15 and am working to fill themn up Be crative and buy stuf that you can make "one pot meals" with. The hints are theie in the news reprots ?worries of global food shortages" and many more subtle. the snerring assholes who make fun of you will loom funny diging for roots in the wood. Bon apetit!
