How can we enter into relationship with God, this Being who for us is so elusive, inaccessible and unfathomable?

"How can we enter into relationship with God, this Being who for us is so elusive, inaccessible and unfathomable? The best way to establish a bond with him, to feel him and even touch him, is to work with the light – to concentrate on it, immerse ourselves in it, delight in it – for light is the expression of divine splendour.

Light is like an ocean of vibrating, throbbing life. Sink into it and swim, purify yourself in it, breathe it, drink it, and even eat it… Only in the bosom of the light will you capture something of the divine essence."

SIMPLE:-

You need to become a muslim,ie islam which means submission to God.

But are you willing to get off your chair?

Ps The Quran has not one contradiction in it. Its very revealing - life after death, what is in heavan and hell, what happens when you die, etc etc.

Yep - read it cover to cover. Jesus is the bridge to the Almighty. Jesus IS the Almighty. Read it, and you'll see.

He loves you, He's not elusive - He's been running after you your whole life!

God is none of what you surmise.

HE made HIMSelf Known to mankind through Abraham, Moses, Elijah, and Gave mankind, Through Christ Jesus, The Way to have Relationship With HIM.

Don't know in your heart that Christ is Who HE IS?
You will, soon enough.

Love Christ Jesus with a true heart?
Can you trust The Father with your life?

Then you can make your Leap of Faith and surrender Unto HIM.

Acknowledge Christ Jesus,
Admit and repent of your sins,
Claim your share of God's Mercy and Grace,
Give your life Unto The Father; all of it, the good & bad,
Ask HIM to send HIS Holy Spirit to Abide With you and Guide your life.

Nothing unfathomable about that if you love HIM and trust HIM fully and completely.

Get Right With God

I would risk the serpent's bite
I would dance around with seven
I would kiss the diamond back
If I knew it would get me to heaven

(Chorus:)
'Cause I want to get right with God
Yes, you know you got to get right with God

I would burn the soles of my feet
Burn the palms of both my hands
If I could learn and be complete
If I could walk righteously again

I would sleep on a bed of nails
'Till my back was torn and bleeding
In the deep darkness of Hell
The Damascus of my meeting

I asked God about his plan
To save us all from Satan's slaughter
If I give up one of my lambs
Will you take me as one of your daughters?

Not as difficult as Lucinda Williams writes about, but one helluva slide guitar on that song, eh?

About the time you decide to quit trying and just surrender, you'll find you're In HIS Presence. Where you go from there is between you and HIM.

Re: How can we enter into relationship with God, this Being who for us is so elusive, inaccessible and unfathomable?
I didn't read your post, but if you are a blasted atheist don't ask for a personal relationship with God unless you want to suffer. You might just end up with one. God, for reasons of love and greater good can be incredibly cruel to those who don't simply believe in him from the outset. I have myself to blame for my relationship with God. Note: If you do really want one badly and are willing to suffer a while then do ask for one. You might get it. God still loves you even when he is seemingly cruel. New age concepts of relationships with God are bunk. You will be heard by him but he probably won't care. Seriously.

Now for the craziest part of my post (those with an aversion to what would widely be accepted as insane discourse please don't read):

I have a personal relationship with God that I might sometimes say I'd rather not have. Nevertheless I was given hope I never had as a result of it. I was planning suicide, planning living a wandering life in the mean time. God gave me my affliction just when all was to go down the tubes. I suffered significantly as a result of this. But I remembered in that time for years I had called upon God to get me out of my rut, to teach me his way (even though I was a self professed atheist) show me my path, most of all I asked for a personal relationship with God. I definitely got one. These days the lord is less harsh with me than he was when I was lost. He even seems to reassure me now, though I am not sure whether he really is doing so. I have become more intelligent (my IQ rose from the 120's to the 130's with a verbal IQ near 150(though I care less about intellectual endeavors than ever)this despite supposed schizophrenia. I have little interest in the world and its problems (maybe I am wrong in this) and have become a devout follower of Christ. Folks. IF you aren't a professing believer on your own, but are a secret believer, don't be a reverse hypocrite, don't ask god to prove himself to you as I did. Just believe. You'll have a far easier time.
