... I like Sarah Palin - By Camille Paglia
... don't know who this woman is but thought she had some interesting observations.

By Camille Paglia

I like Sarah Palin, and I've heartily enjoyed her arrival on the national stage. As a career classroom teacher, I can see how smart she is -- and quite frankly, I think the people who don't see it are the stupid ones, wrapped in the fuzzy mummy-gauze of their own worn-out partisan dogma. So she doesn't speak the King's English -- big whoop! There is a powerful clarity of consciousness in her eyes. She uses language with the jumps, breaks and rippling momentum of a be-bop saxophonist. I stand on what I said (as a staunch pro-choice advocate) in my last two columns -- that Palin as a pro-life wife, mother and ambitious professional represents the next big shift in feminism. Pro-life women will save feminism by expanding it, particularly into the more traditional Third World.

As for the Democrats who sneered and howled that Palin was unprepared to be a vice-presidential nominee -- what navel-gazing hypocrisy! What protests were raised in the party or mainstream media when John Edwards, with vastly less political experience than Palin, got John Kerry's nod for veep four years ago? And Gov. Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas, for whom I lobbied to be Obama's pick and who was on everyone's short list for months, has a record indistinguishable from Palin's. Whatever knowledge deficit Palin has about the federal bureaucracy or international affairs (outside the normal purview of governors) will hopefully be remedied during the next eight years of the Obama presidencies.

The U.S. Senate as a career option? What a claustrophobic, nitpicking comedown for an energetic Alaskan -- nothing but droning committees and incestuous back-scratching. No, Sarah Palin should stick to her governorship and just hit the rubber-chicken circuit, as Richard Nixon did in his long haul back from political limbo following his California gubernatorial defeat in 1962. Step by step, the mainstream media will come around, wipe its own mud out of its eyes, and see Palin for the populist phenomenon that she is.

I agree, i think she is a female Ronald Reagan and that means that her indepandent thinking does not go over big with the establishment political parties.

Re: ... I like Sarah Palin - By Camille Paglia
Camille Paglia is a rational and fascinating writer. She reminds me of the late Meg Greenfield, who was herself most excellent.

I must say that Ms Paglia surprised me. I expected nothing positive from her about Palin, but Paglia's admiration for Palin is contagious.

Anyway, another great article from Camille.

Ya know, I'd vote for Camille as President. To my mind, she's considerably more intelligent and aware than most candidates, and demonstrably more fair.

Paglia's book 'Sexual Personae' is one of the greatest I've ever read. I find it hard to believe that someone who advocates scholarship, taste and intelligence should seek to defend the likes of Sarah Palin. Too often Paglia's synthesis of high and low culture makes uneasy bedfellows of scholars and morons, genius and fool.

It seems you are just a follower, parroting words of another, when you really don't know anything at all. A fool will always open their mouth before fully hearing.

Re: ... I like Sarah Palin - By Camille Paglia
you poor pathetic fools....

dont you understand that the human race is blindly marching towards the precipice of complete and utter financial and war based destruction??

YOU are the ones contributing to this phenonmenon of self destruction as well, by focus your attentions on a vice presidential nominee who cant even list newspapers she reads or know that Africa is a FUCKING CONTINENT!!

please tell me how someone without any obvious intellingence above a high school student graduate (a C student at that) can lead our country or the WORLD out of such a mess?

Bush couldnt do it. (but thats not saying much)

Obama will deepen the problems further if not bring upon WWIII.

And you want me to believe that the lady who obviously has no idea about world politics (let alone geography) will make it better??

"Oh gee, dontcha know, *wink*, trust me. THis bulldog with lipstick is gonna save joe six pack."

please enlighten me on what great qualities and strengths she possessess??? hmm???

From what I can see, she's a power hungry everyday two bit politician whos only tryin to get a bigger piece of the cheese.

How can you not be insulted by the way she even speaks? calling you Joe six pack and proudly proclaiming that Obama is "palling around" with terrorists??? Even inciting the idiots of the crowd to chant kill him.... (note: I dont think Obama will do any good either so please keep your label makers in their boxes)

Whos the terrorist?? ayers?? me?? anyone who thinks the governement has overstepped their bounds?? anyone who is against her regime??

What a disgrace to America..... We obviously deserve what we will receive....

No, we haven't. Whatever she does, however high in status or government she may (or may not) rise, the fact remains that this woman is not done, like it or not.
