Anonymous Coward User ID: 14408911 United States 05/01/2013 07:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I just received a check today from fedex for $1850. They say it is for a mystery shopping solutions. I will never deposit in my checking account, but thought about going to the bank on the check and verifing it is real. The company wants me to keep $200 and western union the rest to another receivers address and tell them how my transaction went. I am not suppose to tell the western union agent that I am participating in this. I am not sure if this is a scam or not! Has anyone heard of this one as a scam? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 11724277 Whose money are you going to use when you send them $1650? |

Pyractomena borealis User ID: 20793638 United States 05/01/2013 07:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No No No Scam works as such.. you go cash check..check bounces weeks later and your out the money.. usually invloves paying for something on sending something back though. Go to craigslist and look at fAQ about scams it will sound familiar. I was selling an item on craigslist for 1500 dollars and guy sent a check and everything via fed ex priiroty etc., emailed sounded was going to pay fo shipping all sounded legit. ended up check was fake as crap. I of course did not attempt to cash it. Do this.. take it to a bank and DO NOT CASH but see if they can verify the funds. Usually only the bank it is drawn on can do this. i.e. name of bank on check. If it sounds like some BS bank you can bet check is BS.. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 520949Yes, I had one Fed Ex'ed for $4800. Contacted FBI and was told it wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. You can contact your local FBI office for advice. They were very helpful to me and know about this all too common scam. You trust your government. I would have tried to cash it. Quoting: george_glassIt takes 21 business days for a check to clear. That is what our credit union told me the last time I deposited a personal check for payment of eBay items. WAtCH OUT/////My friend was scammed this way |

Couple days later he got a call from a out of area number telling him how he is to earn that money. Lets say it was less then legal. He consulted a professional and discarded the check. That is a crazy story! What did they want him to do? Wow, very creepy. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 8290890 United States 04/10/2015 01:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is a scam. I got one too and it was from a legitimate bank, but it was counterfeit. If you cash or deposit this check you will be responsible for it and if the bank doesn't believe you were not involved in this scam you may also face legal consequences. Call the bank that is associated with the check and they will tell you instantly if it is legitimate. This is the US, you don't get money without strings attached. |
