President-elect Barack Obama intends to pursue a Mideast peace policy that calls on Israel to revert to its pre-1967 borders in return for official diplomatic recognition by the Arab world.

A senior Obama adviser told the London Times that Obama will throw his support behind a 2002 Saudi peace initiative that also has been endorsed by Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, the Arab League, and Israeli President Shimon Peres.

Under the plan:

# Israel would be able to veto the return of Arab refugees expelled in 1948.

# Israel would restore the Golan Heights to Syria.

# Palestinians would be allowed to establish a state capital in east Jerusalem.

According to the senior adviser, Obama has said privately that Israel would be "crazy" to reject such a plan, since it would "give them peace with the Muslim world."

Well, couldn't the same body that created Israel again, UNcreate Israel again? I say UNcreate Israel and put it back like it was in 1947, or just call the whole territory "Palestine". Then the jews can just live in Palestine if they want to.

Please tell me where my thoughts are extremist in you opinion. ll im doing is saying the time game is a silly argument and that Obama staing what was said in OP is an excercise in futility because the Arab States have refused to recognize Israel since the 1947 UN partition plan. Immediately after Israel was declared a state they were attacked. At this time Israel had 600k citizens and lost 6000 people a full 1% of its population defending there newly found state.

By you saying you support an end to the ocupation is an extremist viewpoint IMO. The Arab nations refer to the occupation is the state of Israel itself.
