Not just shoes, but also constant use of chairs, mats, rugs, blankets, and all kinds of unneeded contraptions to prevent "grounding out" on the earth. Even to sit in a living room watching TV sitting on the ground, people will ask you to try to make you sit on a couch or chair. It is kind of amusing. All I can make of it is cultural conditioning maybe driven by a subconscious sense of "pride" and desire to distance oneself from the earth. |

It is not "civilized" to be barefoot, or to sit on the floor. Though, I can ground just fine through shoes or a blanket, but the actual physical contact cannot be beaten. And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music. |

If there is concrete or asphalt between you and the ground, it will not work properly. And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music. |

The intention and visualization is important. I agree that it is more effective if there is earth contact though. I used to live in a high rise in the city and would not be able to meditate peacefully outside. My home now has wonderful private yard but it is too cold to go ouside so I still practice indoors even with the concrete basement floor barrier. btw, I have always been a no shoes wearing, floor sitter. People do think I am weird because I find sitting on the floor more comfortable. Nice post. |

It doesn't matter if your feet are crossed as much as what energy you are absorbing and what you are doing with it. Example, you can bring in energy, but without checking your physical body, immediate outer energetic body and out energetic body you are merely sustaining and not growing stronger, physically or in awareness - psychically. |
