[ link to news.nationalgeographic.com] Human "Footprint" Seen on 83 Percent of Earth's Land Hillary Mayell for National Geographic News October 25, 2002 Scientists have produced the first map that traces human influence on the natural world, and the numbers are big. Overall, 83 percent of the total land surface and 98 percent of the areas where it is possible to grow the world's three main crops—rice, wheat, and maize—is directly influenced by human activities. "Yes, humans have a huge influence on the Earth's ecosystems," said Eric Sanderson, a landscape ecologist with the Wildlife Conservation Society and one of the co-authors of the study. ------Question is...how much more can it take before this house of cards we built collapses ? * ---V--- Man's symbiotic connection with the cosmos will be known and there is nothing which can stop that knowing. Because everything we all do everyday helps confirm that truth. It is just that we haven't reached the pinnacle of where it leads. But we will soon enough. We will either live or die with that knowledge. Between Heaven and Earth is us. Be brave young warriors in truth. [ link to www.youtube.com] Only a miracle will save us now. The human race has created a giant dead zone on the land and in the waters that no seed can be planted and no life can live. Aint we just wonderful beings ? All due to human laziness in body, mind and spirit. * ---V--- |

It is sad, even when I am out in the middle of nowhere in the mountains, I can still find trash. Trash along established trails that have been there so long, you know that people have been walking by it all for years and never bothered to pick it up. Makes me fucking sick, I pick up every bit of trash I ever see in the mountains, usually on my hikes by the time I get back my backpack and my pockets are crammed full of it. And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music. |
