Little ground pepper can be added, but optional. It wont taste good. But might help. Some old home remedy from India |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 516120 United States 12/06/2008 09:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hubby is sick with what sounds like a sinus infection. Anyone out there know of anything that will help bring relief from the congestion? I am giving him OTC pain medication, but wonder if there isn't something more I can do to help get the infection to break loose. Thanks in advance! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 92956Benadryl helps more than Sudafed. That stuff raises blood pressure which makes ears plug up. One thing I swear by (and I have had chronic ear and nose infections my whole life. It's Nutribiotic and Sino Fresh. The first can be found at any Vitamin Shoppe, but Sino Fresh is hard to come by. Buy from their online site. Get a 4 Way Nasal spray but don't use it more than a week. When his nose is cleared from 4 Way, he can irrigate gently (hold breath, so none gets int he ears) OR btreathe heavily through mouth when pouring into nostrils. It is important not to blow, because it drives air into the ears and deep into sinus passages, spreading infection. Also, take like B 50's three times a day, it works for some reason, and also take a bit of colloidal silver. One half dropper in a tall glass of water. Put drops of straight CS into ears, so it doesn't spread. Eat raw garlic mixed in yoghurt with salt and pepper and herbs. On crackers. Last but not least, gargle with salt water and brush teeth often. Most important: Wash hands and purify hands frequently. |

Afterwards, put the carcass & bones & leftover meat in a big pot & cover with water. Being it to a boil & then simmer on medium heat for about an hour or more. Strain it through a colander to get the bones & unappetising bits out. Cut-up meat & put that back in the broth. Add onions, carrots, celery. Noodles, rice, or dumplings, at the end if you like. Add a lot of salt. Some pepper, and if you like some fresh lemon juice. You can also add some garlic, goya seasoning, paprika, parsely or other herbs & spices. |

For the ears, the hydrogen peroxide from the drug store works great at full strength. It feels cold at first but will warm quickly in your ear as is bubbles in your ear. DO NOT DO THIS ON INFANTS !! Do it lying down with a towel to catch the peroxide. If you can't tolerate this, gently place a saturated cue tip in you ears. For sinus congestion, buy food grade hydrogen peroxide from a health food store. Caution! Don't get the full strength on your skin and don't use this in your ears!! It is highly caustic. Buy distilled water. Mix about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of the highly concentrated peroxide in about 64 oz or about 2 liters of distilled water. Keep this mix refrigerated in a sealed jug, jar or container. Empty out a nasal spray bottle. If you don't have one, buy a bottle of "Ocean" -- its a saline nasal spray. Empty out the nasal spray bottle and fill it with your special solution. Spray this in each nostril and then recline for 10-15 minutes until the nasal passages start to open. Repeat as often as needed. Never use decongestant drugs again!! AGAIN, DO NOT DO THE ABOVE WITH INFANTS !! Drink about 4 oz of the above mix about twice a day. Also, buy some chicken broth at Trader Joe's or get a case of it at Costco. Heat some up on the stove, full strength and then pour into mug and sip on like tea. I like to add a little cayenne but some people may prefer it plain. Some may add garlic. Or boil yourself a whole chicken and drink the broth. Add rosemary, thyme and garlic and maybe a little pepper. Remove the chicken when cooked and use a skimmer to ladle out the fat or put the broth in the refrigerator over night and you'll be able to easily scoop out the fat that will be at the very top of container. There's something about chicken broth that helps clear the sinuses--best from a whole (bones, skin and giblets included) boiled chicken--or the cartons of broth purchased are real quick for instant warmth and sustenance when you're sick. Tip -- stay away from all dairy and eggs when you have a cold or sinus probs but because these things are mucousy themselves and will just add to your problem. |

You put warm water in the pot and special salt, not table salt (too much iodine). Nasal salt is easily found at pharmacies. Put snout in one nostril and tip your ear parallel to the floor and like magic the water runs out the other nostril. Do this over a sink. It really works wonders. The colloidal silver found in health food stores is expensive and of questionable quality. Homemade costs only pennies once you have the equipment set up to make it. |
