So the urban anarchists retreat to college campuses. Can you believe it! What an ass backwards law. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 521575The University asylum is "holy" for us. Maybe its the time of the day but people should go and find the news with the internet - not let mainstream media play it down with a 20 second mention then go on to something else. This is historic... Quoting: mark 570411Have hope Mark...People are paying attention and learning a great deal. Can't help the media coverage, but there is the internet! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 521575The Americn consumer has spoken against the capitalist thugs who would rob them. No they havn't. The American consumer is just a sheep that is only now getting sheared. Notice how the big news today is how the big 3 are unworthy of a measly 15billion while another bankster gets away with stealing tens of billions. Corrupt politicians selling off parts of the system and even when they get caught red handed they just post bail and get back to work. and the stupid people cannot see this...very frustrating! |

There are several cops overpowering some people through sheer force of numbers and trying to detain them. I see no hits. Do you realise what a riot police attack looks like? Look at this: [link to www.youtube.com] In all the images on the riots in Greece that I've seen until now on the TV and youtube I've never seen the riot police using their batons to beat the rioters. It's like a childs' play in comparison to what riots are in other places of this world. I don't know, something doesn't seem right. The Greek police is treating these rioters very kindly. A push and shove there, a tear cas shot here etc. If this was happening in my city these anarchists would face some tough sh!t and end up seriously bruised. 89446 User ID: 464964 Romania 12/12/2008 04:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Add this to the mix - FROM AP NEWS AGENCY: Quoting: mark 570411Despite the rioting, Justice Ministry officials said Friday the government will proceed with plans to release some 5,000 inmates, or about 40 percent of Greece's prison population, starting this month. That move follows a mass hunger strike staged by inmates last month to protest overcrowding... OMG!!! Oh my, those people must have reached the bottom of the incompetence barrel! Freeing 5,000 inmates at a time of riots (I bet the inmates can spell LOOT), when a lot of people have anti-cop feelings and when any cop will fear pulling out his gun if he is attacked? Great, just great. Sol Dominvs Imperi Romani Imperium Romanum Sacrum In Varietate Concordia |

First here we are not Korea. Second we dont have many images or videos from the attacks of the police to the rioters. These attacks happen mostly at night and there is none allowed to take pics or videos (eg from exarchia sqaure) The police attacked the cameramen today because they were taking some shots of them beating students and they broke their cameras. |

Doesn't matter where it happened, that's what an ATTACK is. Riot police moving in force and using their batons and shields. You're saying the attacks happen at night and nothing is filmed. I doubt it. If the cops can be so sloppy as to be photographed using a gun in broad daylight I doubt they have much control over what is filmed or photographed. Not only that, but if the attacks happen at night as you say, how come the rioters still hold? How many anarchists are in custody? Any info on that? To me the police looks sloppy. Instead of moving in to trap and neutralize the groups of anarchists as they show up, they throw tear gas at them. The anarchists are free to go back home where they rest and eat and then rejoin the riots later on. How long will the police allow this to go on? I heard a number near 200 earlier today but I dont know if it is only in Athens or a sum from all the towns. Then it is not clear if these are rioters, protestors, or looters. There are hi schools and university buildings under occupation. Hi scholl students are mostly at schools and anarchists along with uni students are in universities. If you have read my messages from the beggining, I believe there are some provocators or police people within the anarchist groups, so we never have massive arrests all these years. They arrest some poor kids and take them to the court but they never catch leaders or the people who call for riots. I believe they use the riots in order to manipulate the society. |

Keep reporting what you hear and see. Rumours are most accurate the closer they are to the action (and most inaccurate and suspicious the farther away).. YOu seem confused and bewildered about what is happening, and can only grope for answers by declring that your country would react differently. That is a next to useless observation... |

Im trying to report the general feeling and what I see is a general protest against both the government/police and the rioters/looters. The thing is, we dont want a police state who kills a 15 year old for no cause, we need changes in the laws for the education and the economy (not new antiterrorist laws), and we dont want to let any political party use these protest for their own plans, because it is their politics all these years which resulted to this. |
