Re: Coke/Pepsi as pesticide
ive seen pepsi strip the paint off a wall

We all know it's brutal, I mean I knew it was really, really freaking acidic, but I had no idea it could be used as a pesticide...

Some scary stuff right there.

I don't even know what to think of this, I mean according to the narrator on this video it works as a pesticide not because it's acidic, but because it actually contains pesticide...

Nothing surprises me anymore, and this one surprised me!

Someone told me that if you let a rusted nail in pepsi for one night, the day after, there won't be rust anymore. I never tried it.
 Quoting: Whee! 8D (Quebec)

Works with Coke too.We use to pour it over the nails that would get damp and rust.

Some interesting and pertinent info:

How Soda is Destroying Your Health
SCARY

As much as we Americans love our soda, the drink is detrimental to our health. Here's why. Know any other reasons soda is bad for us?

1. SODA = VINEGAR: Soda is the most acidic beverage you can buy with a pH of 2.5, about the same as vinegar.
Acid oxidizes whatever it comes in contact with. If you put soda or vinegar on metal, it will rust it quickly.

2. DRINK SODA, LOSE CALCIUM: Drinking soda, which contains high levels of phosphorous, you leach calcium from your bones.

3. BYE BYE TOOTH ENAMEL: The high sugar content of one soft drink was able to damage the white blood cells’ ability to ingest and kill bacteria for seven hours. Sugar and acid in soft drinks so easily dissolve tooth enamel.

4. ONE SODA = 1.6x INCREASE IN RISK FOR OBESITY: Weight gain! Drinking 1 soda a day causes an 80 percent increased risk of developing Type 2 diabetes also.

5. KIDS + SODA = BROKEN BONES: Adolescents who consume soft drinks display a risk of bone fractures 3 to 4 times higher than those who do not. Children don't realize they are drinking a mixture of phosphoric acid, sugar, caffeine, coloring, and flavoring matter. Excess liquid calories inhibit the ability of older children to compensate at mealtime, leading to caloric imbalance and, in time, obesity.

6. DIET SODA JUST AS BAD: One liter of an ASPARTAME (Equal)-sweetened beverage can produce about 56 milligrams of methanol. When several of these beverages are consumed in a short period of time, as much as 250 milligrams of methanol are dumped into the bloodstream, or 32 times the EPA limit. You’re poisoning your body, too.

7. CAFFEINE AS HUMAN KILLER: Caffeine withdrawal can strike people who drink a single cup of strongly brewed coffee or drink caffeinated soft drinks everyday and symptoms include headache, fatigue, mild depression, muscle pain and stiffness, flu-like feelings, nausea and vomiting. Women are more prone to PMS.

Just one caffeinated soft drink per day is associated with a reduced monthly chance of conception of 50 percent.

8. ASTHMA & RASH: Sodium benzoate is used as a preservative (microbial control) in foods, including soft drinks. Sodium preservatives add sodium to the diet and reduce the availability of potassium. Some reported reactions to sodium benzoate include recurring urticaria (rash), asthma, and eczema.

9. SACCHARIN (Sweet n' Low), which is a noncaloric petroleum derivative estimated to be 300 to 500 times sweeter than sugar. Carcinogenic effects of saccharin in the bladder and other sites and in some instances at doses of the equivalent of 1-2 bottles of diet pop daily.

With diet soda, you’ve gone from high calories to poisonous levels of methanal and an increased chance of developing cancer.

10. ALL OVER BAD: Increased soft drink consumption contributes to osteoporosis. Tooth loss, periodontal disease, and gingivitis can be problems also.

Actually I would say that the real reason to stay away from soft-drink products is because of the high fructose corn syrup.

Have you seen this awful commercial for fructose?

I use corn glutten in the spring time - put it on dandelions and they die.

Beware ALL corn-based products...

Re: Coke/Pepsi as pesticide
not only that, check what caffeine is :)
Did you ever have a job that you hated and worked real hard at? A long, hard day of work. Finally you get to go home, get in bed, close your eyes and immediately you wake up and realize... that the whole day at work had been a dream. It's bad enough that you sell your waking life for minimum wage, but now they get your dreams for free.

The worst mistake that you can make is to think you're alive when really you're asleep in life's waiting room.

Re: Coke/Pepsi as pesticide
Hi, my name is V, and I'm a Peps-aholic.

I know how terrible it is for me, but god DAMMIT i have to drink SOMETHING with flavor and I'm not all that big a Tea fan. I do drink way more water than I used to but....still I need my soda!

Open to suggestions though if any other cola-addicts have broken the habit.

There's plenty of safe stuff around to drink [I think/hope?], but most is non-carbonated though, which I'd think was preferable.. unless you need some help with breaking wind. lol

I don't have a flatulence problem, but thanks lol, or should I say BUTT thanks heh.

I gotta say though 'plenty of safe stuff you hope' lol not much response from all the health conscientious people on here as to what ya'll drink instead.

I'm admitting it, I basically have been addicted to Soda, in particular Pepsi for my whole life, (yes I actually drank soda as a kid daily due to an allergy to Milk)

And I can't drink ONLY water...... and as I established previously I'm not much on teas, so I'm looking for genuine advice on what glp'ers drink if not soda.
"A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against its government."

"People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of the people."

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!!!"

“…if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

"I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men." - Woodrow Wilson from his death bed regarding his involvement in the passage of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913.

Re: Coke/Pepsi as pesticide
Delivered for a Chain store in Westport, CT MANY years ago. First stop was a dentist, who's five year old son was always out playing in the yard. He ALWAYS had a quart bottle of soda in his mouth.

One day I spoke to him and he took the bottle down long enough to grin at me. ALL his teeth were BLACK STUMPS. It was horrifing to see, and I still remember it 50 years later.

I think I would have ran out of that dentist's office as fast as I could have after seeing his son with the black teeth.

Not a good reflection on his dental skills I would say.
