I did not realize they did not random screen them and I agree, if we processed things with this type of logic, this nation would be in a whole different place right now... |

I see the mandatory piss test for all as a step in the right direction. Why anyone would support trash of the variety the email speaks of is beyond me. The goal of an email like that is to foster class/gender/racial/etc. conflict. |

3rdDayRising (OP) User ID: 521172 United States 12/08/2008 10:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | What about controlling the import of drugs into your country! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 567513After 911 the US Drug market never even blinked! I would like someone explain that one to me. Interestingly enough, there is a past model to shed some light on that. During the depression, one business really took off. Alcohol. In trying times people seek to either numb themselves to the reality of it all and drugs and alcohol become the refuge of many. I did so with alcohol. Now I only drank on the weekends, but after the death of my sister, I looked forward to the weekend more than ever. Even a few moments of drunken laughter to forget the terrible pain I was in made it well worth the hangover and I treasured those moments of relief where my friends could get me to smile. I see no difference after 9-11 than with my case, except it was on a much larger scale. People were angry, sad, upset and many lost family members. Perhaps this type of depression and sadness could explain the usage holding steady. However, I believe if our government really wanted to eliminate the drug problem, they would make it legal to shatter the price for the growers and then put an agenda of media downing of the habits to guide public opinion on the matter. The more you tell people they can;t have something, the more they want it. Ever notice that. Basic psychology really and I believe it is one of the tools they are using to destroy this nation. We didn't have the teenage binge drinking nearly as bad when I was a kid as we do today. I used to go to the local station and buy a few brewskies and cigs for my pop and it was no big deal. Now they have passed ridiculous laws on everything aside from breathing and I am sure they will be on that one soon... |

Stop the source by making it legal and destroying the market value. Simultaneously launch a media campaign via hollywood etc to steer public opinion like they do for everything else... That's my idea. I do not support drugs, but I can see that the reason why the growers are so inclined ot do so is because the drugs are illegal, and subsequently the price is 1000s of times more than if it were legal. Take out the grower with prices and the market dissipates... |

Hanfeitzu User ID: 503964 United States 12/08/2008 11:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | where I work, they do random checks on people that are on assisitance Quoting: Anonymous Coward 546627Random checks? Where do you live? I'm sure they do not require random drug screenings. The truth is the government would prefer for the proles to be addicted to drugs and the tit of welfare for generation after generation. It is not meant to give anyone a step up. It's meant to keep them down. Once you cross that threshold of household income the "assistance" ends... the problem is that the threshold is insanely low. Most people are left with two choices: continue to rely on big brother to care for you, or take that better paying job and go broke trying to make ends meet. Although in principle I am against random drug testing, there are some situations in which I see the need... I don't want a melt-head flying my airplane when I go to Florida to visit the in-laws. Anonymous Coward User ID: 568575 Australia 12/08/2008 11:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | the email, letter you are referring to is an old , old email that does the rounds every now and then and is nothing more than an attempt to force drug testing on all the people. I know what you are thinking, "I dont do drugs, i am all right". Sorry bad news for you.It is not just for weed, speed etc it will cover painkillers,anti-depressents etc. It is the same with the drug stops on the roads in Australia. Testing for weed now but the police have stated that they are really after prescription drug users driving on the roads. Lucky in Australia we will have smart cards soon that will be used to go the doctor (your medicare smart card ) and then used to get your prescription. You will also have to hand it to the police officer at the road side stop. He/she will scan your card and it will said wither you should be on the road due to your presciption. |

If people are tested as a work safety issue, then they should all be tested for legal drugs. I don't want trust some worker pilled out on prescription drugs in my workplace.
