Colorado is unique. The lifestyle is laid back. The people are more friendly than most parts of the country. There is just something special about Colorado. It's definitely a different way of life than someone from places like LA, NYC, and Chicago would be accustomed to.

Pros: more casual, less stress, lower cost of living, dog friendly, the spectacular beauty of the mountains, it's true that there isn't a lot of bugs like roaches and fleas, great place to raise a family

Cons: not as good public transportation or wide variety of cuisine, and it's DRY (expect your skin and hair to feel super parched until you acclimate), not as wide variety of cultural activities than in California or NY.

Colorado is the fittest state in the U.S., with the least amount of obese people. There ia a lot of outdoor activities to keep people moving.

The weather can be cold during the winter months, with occasional blizzard conditions, but in general it's more sunny and warm in Colorado than most non-Coloradans realize.

If you live in the suburbs of Denver or Colorado Springs, or in one of the mountain towns, expect to see a wide variety of wildlife in your backyard on a day to day basis - deer (scads), skunks, mountain lions, bears, foxes, coyotes, hummingbirds, racoons, rabbits, and the occasional bigfoot peeking in your window or rummaging through your trash.

thx, when I visited Denver a few years back for my sis's wedding, the feeling I got was 'unique', exactly. And the beauty, friendlier. I wouldn't miss NYC roaches! The weather I think is similar to NYC, except it is much drier out there for sure. Regarding wildlife, I was just talking to my sis today and she was telling me about the racoons? cyotees? hanging around from time to time, so have to be careful with my cat in the back yard.

Thanks for taking time to share.
