unless it was VERY localised, it wasn't thunder and lightning

and it definately NOT sounded like thunder, very defined sound

Ok, listen up.

Exactly how many seconds after the flash did you hear the boom?

If you don't know for certain, obtain a margin estimate. I.e. - no less then 2 seconds, no more then 5 seconds.

Apply the math. Speed of sound is 340.29 meters a second.

Get a compass or determine the exact direction of the flash however you may.

Get a map and determine the exact location of the flash using distance determined by sound delay and compass direction.

If the flash point is over a military installation, get under ground NOW! You only have 30 minutes until radioactive fall out.

interesting you should say that. look at the short period chart at Glennifer Braes.

[link to www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk]

there is a small signal at 1843, which was around 19 minutes before you posted this thread.

could be what you saw/heard?

it's circled there^^

Western Scotland is a strategic location concerning nuclear subs from Russia.

Russia obtained one of two locations for tracking russian subs. Scotland is one of the two not obtained.

Yeah, haven't heard anything on the news about this, and it doesn't seem to have been important enough to trigger a newsflash. Or maybe we're just not getting told what happened.
