Service Uses Cell Phones To Increase Odds Of Conceiving

It's a modern-day way to increase the odds of conceiving a baby.

BabyCenter, LLC, an online resource for parents, has launched a new service dubbed the Booty Caller that sends fertility alerts via cell phone to women who sign up for the program.

Women enter information about their menstrual cycle in the system, and the Booty Caller lets women know via text message when they're most likely to be fertile each month. The program also provides general fertility advice.

According to BabyCenter, sample messages include: "Your fertile window opens today and lasts 5 more days. Stress can get in the way of conception so relax and get a massage, meditate or take a yoga class" and "Today is your last fertile day! If you get pregnant during this cycle, your due date will be on or around 6.25.2009."

The Booty Caller sends 18 text messages per year, three per menstrual cycle.

The service is sponsored by First Response. The alerts are free, but standard text message and other fees from your cell phone provider may apply.
