BRAVE NEW SCHOOLS
Christians called to abandon public education
Children's worldview determined by 14,000 hours in classrooms

Video showing students at a public school under siege

You've heard all about the disputes: "Silent Night" banned at the "holiday" program, artistic references to the Bible censored and faith-inclusive children's programs facing discrimination.

Now some people are fed up with public school treatment of Christianity and have launched a campaign calling for a rescue of kids from government education programs – a "Call to Dunkirk."

The name Dunkirk is famous for the hundreds of thousands of World War II allies saved in May 1940 when a flotilla of pleasure boats, fishing craft and others rescued the soldiers from the beaches near Dunkirk, France, where they were trapped by an advancing German army.

Author David J. Knowles, who wrote a book on the rescue that British Prime Minister Winston Churchill called a miracle, said volunteers including boat owners, fishermen – ordinary people instead of trained soldiers and sailors – crossed the English Channel to effect the rescue of about 340,000 people.

Now, officials with Exodus Mandate have launched their "Call to Dunkirk" to advocate a departure from public schools.

Several officials have created a YouTube video on their plan, and it is embedded here:

Great story! I pulled my three boys out of public school this year. My 9th grader couldn't write. My 7th grader couldn't multiply, divide, or write cursive!!! Now they are flourishing, and I know what they are learning. They watched more TV at school than they did at school. when they had to write a "book" report, they watched the movie instead of read the book. Can you believe it?

Organization chief E. Ray Moore, a retired military commander, said at Dunkirk, "total disaster (was) averted by bold leadership and ordinary citizens answering the call."

But he said in America, three-quarters or more of the Christian children, "are trapped in the state-run public schools."

Bruce Shortt, the author of "The Harsh Truth about Public Schools," said, "culture is shaped by how we're educated."

"Why should we surprised we're losing culturally and politically when we continue to offer up our children as living sacrifices to the Molech of government schools?" he said.

Get the book that exposes "The Harsh Truth About Public Schools" direct from WND's online store!

Voddie Baucham, Jr., author of "Family Driven Faith," noted children spend about 14,000 hours in public schools.

"Whoever controls those 14,000 hours controls our children's worldview," he said, citing Charles Francis Potter, a signer of the Humanist Manifesto. He wrote, "What can theistic Sunday school meeting for an hour once a week do to stem the tide of a five day program of humanist teaching?"

"The left knows that whoever controls the children owns the future. That's why so many 60s radicals like Bill Ayers went into education. Now they effectively control the government school system and its curriculum. But worse, we give them our children," Shortt said.

Moore said his plan is simple:

"That all families, churches, pastors, major Christian ministries and organizations, concentrate for one year on extracting Christian children from the pagan, godless public schools."

"State-run public schools have become destructive to our children's Christian faith. They no longer educate but rather indoctrinate. Not only morally corrupt, public schools are unsafe because of the violence and crime that occurs in them on a regular basis," the campaign says.

WND previously reported Moore's estimate based on statistics that 70 to 80 percent of Christian children "will abandon the church and their faith in a public school career."

Wow, that's crazy! We live in a country with "freedoms". It is your right to home school your children. I live in KY and haven't heard one thing from social services or the schools.

And yes, (to the other poster) I do teach them about Adam and Eve.

Don't be so bloody thick-headed! What the hell are you doing here at GLP if you are not already at least partially aware that TPTB do not have your best interests at heart, or those of your children either? This is deliberate dumbing down, through the schools, the drugs they force on the kids and the chemicals they zap us all with and it is definitely with a purpose. Grow up.

Re: CHRISTIANS: A national call to quit public school
My dd goes to a Catholic school and she will go there as long as we can afford it. The education there blows away the education in the local public schools. And the fact that she will learn morals which is not taught at public schools.

When I was growing up, I started out in Catholic school but then had to go to public school because my parents could no longer afford it. I always noticed that the kids in the same grade in the catholic school were further ahead in learning than in my public school. I was impressed by that.

If for some reason we cannot afford to send her to the private school we will home school her.

Re: CHRISTIANS: A national call to quit public school
At the time I was living in NY near an Hindi Ashram.
My children were in public school.
My daughter came home one day with instructions on doing a project.
The instructions used a little girl making a brew and casting a spell.

Just to make a point I called the principle and suggested this paper was promoting witchcraft.

The teacher then called. She informed me she was a Sunday School teacher and didn't see the problem. I then said I guess casting spells in also in the bible. She didn't say anything.

The next day they collected the paper. LOL

My point is (I am not a Christian) it was more about how well hidden these type of messages are.

I ended up homeschooling anyway and that was 15 years ago. I was a hippie mom.

Re: CHRISTIANS: A national call to quit public school
In my view all schools should be run by the parents. That means every parent should be required by law to be a volunteer at their childs school for a minimum of a half day of paid leave from work a week. Imagine how this would end much of the crap that goes on. Let the parents decide the ciriculum for the children. let them be involved in teaching their own children. Let parents learn to work together.
Why dont christians run toward the problems? They are always running away from them, mostly by advice from religious leaders that are really quite dumb.
The schools are the way they are because parents are not involved in the process enough, they want to drop the kid off at the babysitters and go to work. We have to make the kid more important than going to work. The parents need to be there!!! Private schools are costly. I say reform the public school system. Dont expect the teachers union to do it, they will become elitests and try to run the show, no...the parents run the show!! The teachers are going to have to learn this!
Your so called religious leaders would eat their words if they had to face real people in real schools. You have to learn to work with other people differant than yourself, you cant pull the kids out and run away. That is so shallow. People are not evil like the religious right would have you believe. Get involved in your community, get involved in your schools. Ignore the religious right.

Difficult to get a proper education in today's public school system. There is a general lack of discipline leading to much distraction for the students that are actually there to learn something.

Look at the statistics for success in college and standardized test scores comparing public school children to parochial private and home schoolers. Those in private/homeschool do much better.

I was able to homeschool my kid for a while. When she had to return the next year to public school, the teachers couldn't believe how far ahead of the rest of the kids she was.

More individual attention from someone who really cares, lessons tailored for the kid and their interests, keeping them engaged in learning longer - making them want to learn more...it's difficult to beat if done right.

Many may be surprised by this but Jesus and Church are talked [promoted] about in public school on a regular basis. I taught for six years in a major public school system on the East Coast. Many of the teachers are born again christians who see their calling as reaching these city kids for christ. Yes, we could get fired but noone cares. Often times the principals are strong christians as well. Jesus and church were talked about in our public school system frequently. As long as big brother isn't looking over your shoulder, teachers can and will talk about whatever they want....including Jesus as the Christ. SURPRISE!!!

schools is a place for learning, not religious brainwashing.
Did you ever have a job that you hated and worked real hard at? A long, hard day of work. Finally you get to go home, get in bed, close your eyes and immediately you wake up and realize... that the whole day at work had been a dream. It's bad enough that you sell your waking life for minimum wage, but now they get your dreams for free.

I agree...school is not a toxic place for kids---the religious right has always gone around trying to demonize the schools--just sayin....
Look, we have to learn how to work together...instead of pulling kids out of schools the parents should GET MORE INVOLVED. This is not about majority rules, this is about learning to be a part of the public. If parents got involved at schools, they would learn that 90% of what these dummies in the religious right are saying is not true. They would also discover that when there are concerns, a parents complaints , especially when there are several parents complaining, thoise get attention paid to them!!
Teachers and schools are scared of lawsuits and their job security. I dont think we should be scaring people, but accountability is good.
Church- quit running away and get involved with the community. Dont believe everything they say on the platform at church.

Re: CHRISTIANS: A national call to quit public school
Yeah, pull yer kids outta school.

who needs an education when you gots Christmas carols to learn?

I do like homeschools, especially co-op types. this again puts the parents into their kids lives- It's a lot of work but wonderful. Kids need to grow up with their moms and dads involved in their lives.
I had a girlfriend who hoimeschooled and sent the kids to public school too. Both. She also was involved with the teachers and knew what the kids were studying- everyday. She learned to work inside the school system and suppliment her kids education with a tailored home school curricula

Re: CHRISTIANS: A national call to quit public school
Public schools were run initially by a government who knew if you expected a population to defend a nation they needed to be well schooled in the Constitution and the political workings of that country. Later however, they seemed to decide that teaching future employees was more important, now many schools have removed their Civics lesson and now seem to simply be focusing on teaching future voters who will be so confused they'll happily vote for whoever they think knows best and never concern themselves with the actual issues.

I was lucky, my son was born in January so I didn't have to hand him over to the school system until he was 5 (now they are talking about education for 0-5 (zero? What the heck does that mean?), and even though I no longer have a school aged kid I'll do what I can to fight against that.

As far as Jesus being taught in East Coast public schools - no where that I know of. In fact it was the opposite for my son growing up on the Jersey Shore. In first grade they asked the class one December morning what the the meaning of Christmas was. My son wasn't a Christian, but he knew that answer and proudly raised his hand. "It's the celebration of the birth of Christ" he replied.....and guess what?! He was told he was wrong! It was the time of year that Santa came! Why ask the question if you don't want the real answer? Demoralization and indocturnation.

BTW some areas of California have also started to threaten those who are homeschooling as well.
