Videobarbs User ID: 452711 ![]() 01/01/2009 02:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In the meantime, if it gets really severe, it will be an opportunity for the government to gain increased control over our every day lives - from food on our tables to availablity of cash at the banks. What not enough people are waking up quick enough to IS the government's all controlling desire. This is NOT what the founding fathers desired and cautioned us against. America has been asleep for a generation and the wake-up call is now at hand. On the up-side, even if unemployment goes to 20%, that'll still mean that 80% of Americans ARE working. During the Great Despression, unemployment was 25%, with 75% people working. My father was never out of work - he was a bookkeeper. The unemployed were factory workers and were happy to have gov't work programs like the WPA. I don't know how many hedge fund managers or loan officers will react to wielding an ax or shovel. These former "masters of the universe" will have to shelve their Blackberries and Rolex watches and the whining will be deafening. I do think that the contractions (like birth pangs)will usher in an era of non-materialistic living and growing sense of community and co-operative living arrangments. This will be a good thing. In other words, "Bling" will be out. Whatever anyone reading this post should concentrate on is to remain as positive as possible as it is of the dark hand that runs this world to keep us as depressed as possible. Don't give in to the negativity. |

'sell rallies'? well no shit! what kind of advice is that? 'be prudent'? again, no shit and could he be any more general and non specific? i wish he had more advice and less doom and gloom. |

Quoting: Benjamin Buttonlooks accurate...all.. except commodity prices . his prediction is wrong. he predicts more deflation. wrong. i don't see hyperinflation. but...general commodity prices will rise back up to their high ie. gasoline 4.00 wheat 12.00 bushel this will be in a time when people really can't afford it..which will be very difficult to bear. VERY. bread will climb to 4.00 a loaf and milk at 4.00 a gallon. this will become hard to bear by the average home. lots of 4's hmmm.. |

Jdd (OP) User ID: 572064 ![]() 01/01/2009 05:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Having read his reports daily for the last year & a half, I've found that most of Karl Denninger's analysis bears out. He's brilliant about so much of this stuff... I can't even understand many of the complex economic dynamics he knows inside & out. But personally, I think there's a fatal flaw in KD's thinking... he won't let himself believe that the core is as corrupt as it is, and that things can break down as fully as I believe they can and almost certainly will. KD's much more of an optimist than I in this regard. He holds out hope that someone, somewhere in the system will eventually see the light and do the right thing. This is evidenced by his continued, fervent efforts, imploring the leaders to do the right think. I don't think it's even a possibility... they won't, because they can't. The cancer has eaten far too deeply into the bone of ethics and morality for them to pull it out now. They and all of us will have to suffer the effects of all the previous bad actions before anything can be righted. Just my two cents... amateurish though they be. Yup 2009.
