I have some questions.

What is your favorite tobacco and why?

What is your favorite tube and why?

What machine or roller do you use?

Where do you buy your tobacco online?

I am currently smoking Midnight Special ff (flame away...) with El-Rey tubes made with a supermatic twin tube injector. So far I've tried about 5 different brands and like the midnight special the best so far.

Militant non-smokers please fuck off in advance... hf

I smoked marlboros and marlboro lights for years. I've been making my own for about 4 months and I'll never go back. I save a shitload of money, and I actually smoke much less. Not to mention they taste MUCH better.

Haven't been able to buy anything decent in Oz for years. 50gm pouch is biggest available for about $30USD. I have been smoking for 25 years and the last 10 has been harsh. The sparkles, crackles and strange tastes (sweet) keep you addicted, shit taste in your mouth and broke.
Reform is here though, I have some nice seeds coming.

I use Bali Shag - very smooth and zig-zag tubes. I use a plastic roller, the Zig-Zag Precision Pro (lol). The roller has lasted over two years, bought an extra just in case and have yet to need it.

Re: Attn: RYO smokers
Glad you started this thread, OP, I'm getting ready to join the RYO revolution as prices are ridiculous, and the fire-safe ciggies will be here in Tennessee by 2010. From what I've read about them, I do NOT want to smoke them. I smoke Marlboro Lights, or American Spirits...and I've been trying to decide on some tobaccos to try. Have a Top-o matic MYO machine ordered and some Zen King light tubes. Am I on the right track? Tobacco suggestions anyone? I'm looking at Little Browns and D&R Tobacco online. Appreciate any input!

I've been rolling Zig Zag Menthol tobacco for myself for over 7 years. Sounds like you'd like Zig Zag Red.
Best price I've seen (and been ordering from for some time) is:

Re: Attn: RYO smokers
Good timing, OP.

I was devoted to Zig Zag for quite a while, but tonight got some "Kentucky Select" full flavor. The Zig Zag was $13 for 6 ox., the Kentucky Select was $15 for 16 oz.

The Kentucky Select is quite aromatic, and every bit as good if not better than the more expensive Zig Zag.

To each their own, but I am on course to save even more $$$ with this recent find.

Bugler sucks. Topp sucks. McClintock sucks.

I cannot speak to the others.

Zig Zag is damn good.

"Kentucky Select" I know little about, except that it is comparable to Zig Zag at 1/3rd the price. At $15 a pound, it is worth considering.

Re: Attn: RYO smokers
Champion Ruby and Tally Ho's, rolled by hand with super-slim filters

As far as all the 'standard' tobaccos that are available everywhere (in oz) - like Drum, Winfield, white-ox and others, Champion is the only one of consistent quality. The others all have stems and huge lumps of tar in them.

Those lumps of tar are from the choppers they use. At the end of the run when they are into the shit tobacco, the tar has built up on the blades and ends up in the final product.

As far as brands of paper or filters go, who gives a shit. No need to be a brand snob about that kind of thing. In my experience when people are, it's 2% practical reason, and 98% masturbation.

I tried Midnight Special, it is pretty harsh.

I don't know who makes this Kentucky Select, but it is cheap and is far better than I would have expected.

I disagree, and a shitty paper can make a good brand of tobacco taste harsh. There are also tube strength considerations when injecting. Also I can't stand a completely white tube as is the case with some light tube brands. It's a real pain in the ass when smoking in low light conditions (after sex for example).

LOL, OK I see your point there
Don't get me wrong, I know there's better papers, filters and tobacco out there, but the ones I buy are the best of the choices that are available everywhere
I don't have any experience with the tubes though, I just roll by hand, but I can see how pisspoor tubes can be a hassle.

I did it once, now I use my tongue if there is a question as to which end is in my mouth.

I also rolled and smoked the '10 to go' paper once when I was pissed in the dark. Surprisingly, I got halfway through before it fell apart.
