The gravitational field of the asteroid pulls the smaller ones along for awhile then they spread out...and eventually get bumped by another space rock and change direction. |

HEY dane, swede here! Southern swedes saw it too, the same time - I wonder if it was seen below Denmark too?? Just looked at spaceweather.com it was a sun corona that should 'hit earth' the 18th Coronal Holes: A solar wind stream flowing from the indicated coronal hole should reach Earth on Jan. 18th. If you read astronomy articles and the like you would know that what im saying is true, ask Space Weather they will confirm that large asteroids have companions alot ..alot of the times much smaller ones trailing behind. |

But...Earth could be moving into an asteroid rich part of space also...meaning we could see more fireballs..ie...meteors in the near future. |

The 1.3 km-wide space rock is flying past Earth today only 2.5 million miles away. Radar images should reveal much about the asteroid including its shape, spin, and precise location. This information will help astronomers better forecast future encounters with the asteroid, which is considered potentially hazardous. So, it hasn't passed by us yet!? |
