The question is and always has been when it comes to these stimulus packages -- do they actually stimulate anything? We know the first stimulus package veered off course from its original objective. It appears this new package is veering away from what President Barack Obama himself said he wanted -- programs that actually work. This current stimulus package proposed by the Democratic leadership in Congress is full of pork and earmarks that appear to be currying political favor rather than creating jobs. What do contraceptives and funding for ACORN have to do with stimulating the economy? In his speech just one week ago, Obama said his administration would embrace programs that work and eliminate those that don’t. The one bright spot in this stimulus package has to do with infrastructure -- building roads and bridges. Those are projects that actually do create jobs and stimulate the economy. The president has shown a willingness to reach across the political aisle and seek input on this stimulus package. We hope he really does listen and take into account the good ideas and reject the bad ideas of his own political party that are holding up the stimulus package the president so desperately believes the economy needs. |

Feds want your medical records Electronic database to include lawsuit, mental health, abortion, sexual details [ link to www.worldnetdaily.com] A little-discussed provision in President Obama's economic stimulus plan would demand that every American submit to a government program for electronic medical records without a choice to opt out, and it has privacy advocates more than a little alarmed. Patients might be alarmed, too, privacy advocates said, if they realized information such as documentation on abortions, mental health problems, impotence, being labeled as a non-compliant patient, lawsuits against doctors and sexual problems could be shared electronically with, perhaps, millions of people. This is all part of that "change" some were so eager to have. |
