It was through another site where Tiaka9(Bridas) was posting. I followed his link to his website [link to www.geocities.com] where I discovered mention of Godlike Productions. Jdd User ID: 610810 Canada 02/08/2009 11:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sorry to sound pompous. It's not because I think I'm 'special' or 'knowledgeable', it's because I believe there is such a thing as Absolute Truth, and that non-truth, or partial truth, is obvious in comparison. So yes, I'm confident about my position, but please don't confuse that with pomposity. What do I suggest? Well, I gave at least an indication of that in my first post in this thread. Wingmakers doesn't endorse a teacher, but they put themselves forth as the facilitator, which is essentially the same thing. On the subject of whether or not one needs a teacher, we can look around us for evidence of what works and what doesn't work. How many of those who have properly dedicated themselves to a qualified, bona fide teacher are making little or no progress? How many are making significant progress? Well, I've seen many people with qualified teachers, and I see the majority of them making significant spiritual progress. Now how about all those around us who don't have a bona fide spiritual teacher, but are instead reading books, attending workshops, "meditating" (which one can rarely do properly without a teacher), etc. What kind of spiritual progress are they making? Having spent 15 years (quite a few years back now) out on the 'circuit' teaching various spiritual practices, I've seen thousands of people in this category. Only the rare few appeared to be making significant progress in their spiritual lives. Most were perennial seekers… always looking, never finding. So in my mind, the case is solid (and diverse scripture supports the notion) that one who is serious about making spiritual advancement should accept a spiritual master, a guru, a teacher, call them what you will. What do I suggest? I suggest that if you're serious, you find a teacher who is clearly displaying the symptoms of love of God, and who willingly, freely offers his/her knowledge, at no cost. When you find such a teacher (which only happens by the grace of God), then humble yourself as much as possible, and in a sincere and submissive mood begin to inquire from them about spiritual matters. When I say 'submissive' I don't mean mindless or blind follower. I mean humbly. Ask a million questions, challenge anything that doesn't seem right, until you're satisfied that a) the teacher is bona fide, and b) the knowledge is pure and Absolute. Once you're in that position, never look back. Develop a burning desire to do nothing but engage in that process, and your life will be perfect. As for Wingmakers, I think they're bogus. They are making bogus claims, as I pointed out in my original post. No "absolute" philosophy or school of teaching has at its foundation bogus, non-truthful claims. As for all the "others" you refer to, you'll have to be more specific before I can comment. jdd, what do you suggest instead? wingmakers recommends meditation and getting to know oneself. wingmakers does not endorse or encourage one to gain "enlightenment" from another teacher or master, it is within. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 527421Wingmakers has some very valuable information. as do many others. you kind of come across like a pompous know it all. I believe you have good intentions but your tone is off putting. |

When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!" -Revelation 6:5, 6:6 |

I definitely don't think anyone needs a "teacher" and anyone that expounds that notion is no closer to the truth than the majority. All the answers are inside us and James did give a technique on meditation. Again, listen to the "inner" self. That's where the teacher awaits. |
