Lithium batteries do not give off heat. "Slaves who imagine they are free cannot be liberated." -Vernon Howard "When one begins to equate their outer experience to the things previously seen in their mind as a mere coincidence, one is set on the path to realizing that the reality seen by the 5 senses is in actuality the material manifestation of what occurs within the human mind and heart." |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 574233Really. Ill take it your answer was a NO. When electricity stoves are possible. Why not hand crank stoves which can operate for sometime - lets say where u can cook/heat something for emergencies... How about atleast a hand crank battery charger which then can be used for a Stove that operates on a battery ? |

The hand crank things are for low power electrical things like flashlights and radios. And electric element hot enough to cook food would need way more power then a hand crank. Why not somebody come up with something like this. It would help millions - not only in emergencies but for Red Cross. Surprised there isnt one like this. It does not have to operate for hours. Just minutes...lets say like 10-15 minutes. |

It takes a lot of energy to produce heat, that's why you won't ever find a battery operated stove. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 574233Reasons for hand crankable 1. ALL obvious reasons all GLPrs know a lot now. 2. Indoor Gas based stove will exhaust after sometime if DOOM time is over weeks 3. No Electricity available for weeks If anybody thinks iam crazy. its ok. Those with kids know what it means if somebody falls sick and need emergency water etc... |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 458735 United States 02/03/2009 10:23 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | i own several "crank" items, lights and radios. the difference you are missing is that those need only a few watts - literally, to run - whereas a stove needs...oh, 1500 to boil water in 10 minutes. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 85241therein lies your problem, sir. Understand. What do people do/can do if they need stove for 10 mins when they dont have gas...or anything like that ? - they should be left to DOOM ? |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 458735 United States 02/03/2009 10:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Yeah but the cranking to create the friction would have to be continuous. You would have to crank it until you were done using the stove. It would use less energy to start a fire. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 545161Exactly!!! Finally somebody who gets what iam trying to say on this board. It is Continuous Hand crank is what iam talking about. The simple answer is there is NOTHING out there. |

The amount of effort required to power a "hand crank stove" would be unrealistic. I can see what would bring you to ask about this but the physics and technologies available to us today stand in the way of your vision. You could also just try a good camping stove or a wood stove. |

How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think. Adolf Hitler When the government fears the people there is liberty; when the people fear the government there is tyranny. Thomas Jefferson "Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free." Jim Morrison |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 574233Shut your trap, you don't know squat. In the WWII prison camps, American prisoners developed a hand cranked stove that used very little fuel. Tin cans were cut to a shape that created a blower effect that would produce an enormous amount of heat in a matter of seconds. |
