Desalination plants for Californians must happen now!
California should have invested in desalination plants many years ago. That they haven't means that the CA water drought is totally planned.

Think of it this way. Americans are supposed to be smart and forward thinking. What could save billions of costs, legal and otherwise for CA's water problems?

Duh. Spend a few billion to make desalination plants like the U.S. engineers did for the Saudi's. Once completed, California never has to worry about water again.

The bogus argument, "it costs too much" simply does not hold water, pun intended. Think of the multi-billions of cost in legal hassles with bordering states, businesses that could not be built, charges, taxes, regulations, on the people to the point of mandates and forced rationing, pipes having to pipe water in from hundreds of miles away... do you realize the extremely enormous cost of these things, in addition to the anxiety.

California desperately needs a couple large desalination plants built immediately!

Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda....

Sorry, but the economic thing is just the beginning. The famine is on it's way and it could last many years. I hope that doesn't really happen, but my advice is to get the you know what out of Cali while you can. There is nothing there worth staying for and Cali's judgment is going to be harsh. Repent and move away, while the gettins good!

Simply put, CA can still do this and it would SAVE billions of dollars.

It's insane, they are desperate for water and they have unlimited amounts right there. If aliens existed and were watching this, they would be laughing at the stupidity.

BTW, California does have a very small number of small desalination plants that have been built, but these are mostly reserved for specific purposes.

Why the general public has not demanded this sooner is amazing.

AMEN!!
Desalination sure sounds like the LA basin's solution-
I would sure be happy if they also built a few desalinators in Mexico for the poor along the Baja too- water is something we all need- a cheap, unlimited supply of H2O !

It will take a Bechtol or GE getting behind the building of Desalination plants in Cali to fund the advertising and public relation campaign necessary to get the voters to push for this.

Two or three large DE SAL plants could create sufficient fresh water for the inland empires' food crops, and another one for LA, one for San Diego, and a third for San Francisco and you'd just about see a totally draught proof California. Total cost 7 or 8 billion for all of them!

The voters of Ca are not very bright in general. Too many Mexicans who've claimed citizenship, and thousands more who were born there and educated (sort of) by the Public School System. They're lucky to be able to read a ballot much less understand what they are or are not voting for. So someone what to roll out an MTV type music and video campaign to convince them it's a good idea.
