*Amber Alert* for Haleigh in Florida

That's a little odd too.

The abductor was organized enough to bring a brick or clever enough to use a found brick to prop the door open. Didn't want to make noise and wake anybody up. BUT, not organized or clever enough to bring a flashlight. Instead the perv was brazen enough to turn on the kitchen light but not worried somebody could see him if they woke up. not worried somebody would get a look at his face if he was caught on the way out.

I'd think turning on an interior light would be the last thing an abductor would do.

And maybe it's just colloquialism, but in that article the girlfriend keeps referring to the abductor as "THEM". Plural. That's almost never the case, so why would she be saying them? Why does she assume it's more than one person? A team of abductors is kind of absurd.

Sometimes the words in these things matter, and sometimes they don't.

My hunch is she was sold.

My hinky meter is off the charts with girlfriend and father.

They both say they've passed their lie detector tests, girlfriend had to take two of them, but law enforcement won't come out and say they've passed their tests.

That means they didn't.

The girlfriend has told like 5 different versions of her story. That's always a bad sign.

The father has a long rap sheet for drugs (heroin, meth, etc) and other offenses. The girlfriend appears to be a big stoner.

The father seems to be a controlling man who probably swats his women around.

None of these things make them guilty. But they are red flags.

Read they're bringing in 15 cadaver dogs today.

There's 44 registered sex offenders within 5 miles of this child's home!

Let's hope this sweet baby beats the odds and is still alive and is found safe and sound.

Wouldn't be surprised though if the girlfriend and father are covering up an accidental and negligent death though. Or if one of them lost their temper and accidentally killed Haleigh.

The girlfriend is covering SOMETHING. Her body language on the videos, when answering questions, she looks down and you can't see her eyes when she answers - she is lying. I read where on Greta Van Susteren's show the father covered the mike and told her to look at the camera.

Most little kids that are killed in rage by their parents - it's over bathroom accidents, the parent loses it. The girlfriend makes a big deal of OVEREXPLAINING in one of the interviews what she did with the blankets that Haleigh peed on the night before, that the other blanket was gone in the van - "they" took the van and her blanket (before Haleigh went to bed), so she had to wash the blanket from the window, covered Haleigh up with a sheet, etc. Was totally out of context with the question but she rambled on with too much information.

May or may not be relevant. Especialy with 44 sex offenders in spitting distance.

At the very least I'd hazard a guess that this gal was stoned out of her mind and slept right through the whole thing just like she said but she isn't saying it's because she was stoned. Maybe that's all she's hiding, dunno.

In an interview she talks about Haleigh in the past tense, "I loved her". That indicates she knows Haleigh is dead. That's a slip lots of killers make. Then again she has very poor english, is very uneducated and ignorant, so who knows for sure. She actually seems somewhat brain damaged. However, she's also begun to distance herself in her speech from Haleigh, no longer is Haleigh her daughter like in the 911 call, but "that child". (shades of patsy ramsey)

On one sleuthing forum a clever poster determined that the trailer Haleigh's father rents is owned by the same landlord who rents to a sex offender about 4-5 trailers down the road.

I fear there won't be a good outcome here no matter what really happened.

Who is that and why is it hard for me to take him seriously?

I think that might be Leonard Padilla, the bounty hunter who inserted himself in the Caylee Anthony case and has now inserted himself into Haleigh's case. You're right, he comes across as a self-aggrandizing buffoon. But he did put up a 25k reward for this baby. Hopefully it'll help.

Her mother beside her looks like a hippy stoner herself. She should have her daugher at home and attending school instead of shacking up with a 25 year old man...

Both of the parents are total losers. Mother lost custody because apparently she wasn't fit to take care of a child? But the child wondered off once already in the past while in the husband's care? Sounds like neither of them are fit parents. Sadly, there are so many innocent children who are victims of their parents lack of love and parenting ignorance.

i've watched it twice studying her...and she has the typical behavior of a lying teenage girl...because in all reality she really is just a 17yr.old...

lets dig deeper in the belly of the beast...
not one mention on why a teen is living with a man taking care of his children...no mention that this dad has a very long rap sheet...

why would the courts give either of the familys the children to begin with...too many children slip through the cracks...does any one care what is really best for the children...why would a child be put in this situation to begin with?

SATSUMA, Fla. - Putnam County Sheriff's Deputies are on day four of searching for Haleigh Cummings. For the first time, deputies are getting help from a private search team. Texas based Equusearch gathered 200 volunteers and headed out around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Equusearch President Tim Miller plans to focus on the wooded area behind Haleigh's home. He could not say exactly where they would be searching because it is under investigation. He said because Haleigh has been gone for 4 days, the chances of finding her alive were not good. Still, he remains optimistic and has a feeling she's still alive.

Searchers headed out on horses, ATV's and bicycles. Volunteer Jim Bailey doesn't know Haleigh's family, but felt a need to help search. "Just out of my heart I feel sorry for the family. It's a warm feeling to help," Bailey said.

He came prepared with a hiking stick and other equipment. "This stick I have is good for searching, scratching the ground and keeping animals away," he added.

Haleigh was last seen on Monday night at 10 p.m. in her mobile home on Green Lane in Satsuma. Investigators said she was sleeping in the same bed as her 3-year-old brother and her father's 17-year-old girlfriend, Mistie Croslin.

When Croslin woke up around 3:30 a.m., the same time Haleigh's father, 25-year-old Ronald Cummings, got home from work, they realized Haleigh was gone and called 911.

Cummings said he and Mistie would never do anything to hurt Haleigh. "She had nothing to do with this, we've both, I had nothing to do with this," Ronald said.

While investigators said Croslin told them she was sleeping in the same bed with Haleigh and her baby brother, Croslin told media a different story. "I put her to bed around 8 o'clock and I woke up and she was gone and the back door was wide open. The last time I seen her was when I put her to bed. She was in her bed in front of the tv and me and junior was in, were in my bed," Croslin said.

Both Croslin and Cummings have taken polygraphs. Deputies would not release the results of those tests. When Sheriff Jeff Hardy was asked if there was a suspect, he replied, "The world is a suspect." He says they plan to interview family members again. When FOX 35 inquired about two two having a relationship that is illegal because of their ages, Hardy said it was not the focus of the investigation.

Sheriff Hardy said they have been searching for more than 88 hours and his team plans to expand his search. According to Hardy, he went up in a helicopter and saw lots of thick and dense areas that need to be searched.

Hardy has 50 law enforcement officers out searching. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is also assisting. According to Hardy, the homes of 44 sex offenders in the area have been searched. However, when asked if every single home in the quarter mile area was searched, Hardy replied, "I can't say every single property has been searched."

When FOX News used the Jessica Lunsford case as an example, Hardy replied, "I will not compare this case to any others."

Four years, 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford was kidnapped from her Homosassa home in the middle of the night, while her grandparents were sleeping. Her body was discovered a few doors down, in the same home where deputies knocked earlier, but didnt go inside. At that time convicted sex offender John Couey was hiding Jessica in a closet. Investigators say he kidnapped, raped and buried Jessica alive under the front door step. Couey was sentenced to death.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Special Agent Dominick Pape says the FDLE is assisting in lab work. Neither Pape or Hardy would say what they were testing. While Hardy says he's had 350 leads, when FOX 35 asked if any of them were good leads, he wouldn't comment.

Haleigh is 3 feet tall and weighs 39 lbs. She has blonde hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information should call the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Something else is weird. When she saw the light on in the kitchen and the door propped open, and checked the bed and found Haleigh missing, why the hell didn't she run out that open door and start yelling her name? Look around the yard, scream, wake up the neighbors, run in the front yard, tear up the house, look through all the closets, look everyplace a child could hide.

I've had a few occasions where I've had to do that with my special needs child when we couldn't find her in the house. Not to the point of waking up the neighbors, but to the point of having the other kids help me look for her room by room and check the yard for her whereabouts, yelling, calling her name as we raced around.

Misty didn't try to find her! That's weird.

And when the father got home, they called 911 within like 2-3 minutes of his arrival, he started yelling about his daughter being stolen and he was going to kill the &$#@!* who took her.

He didn't try to find her either. Didn't go outside, yell for her out there, search the yard, start looking in the bushes/woods abutting their property to see if she was hiding.

Sorry, us parents know that our kids aren't stagnant. They're afraid of a thing but then bam, one day that changes and they do something you think they'd never do so you can never count on that to hold. Anybody would have LOOKED.

But neither Misty or Dad looked!

You'd think they'd still be looking when the police got there. Not hanging out in the trailer bitching out the 911 operator.

I'd also be shaking awake my other kid before I called the police to ask him if he saw where his sister went. A 4 year old can talk! But it sounds like they just let that kid sleep.

That makes no sense.

It's like they knew somehow Haleigh was for sure gone and for sure she was abducted, but they had no way to know that and they didn't do anything to come to that conclusion by even checking.

And then I think of how in the initial footages the father was so dramatic, throwing himself down on the lawn. I'm not one to say how a person would act then, but that's just weird too IMO.

Maybe the girlfriend dumped Haleigh off the end of that dock the scent dogs hit on, plain and simple. Or maybe they live in some other strange subculture that's just beyond reason.

Alot of folks are saying these two remind them of Susan Smith when she said her kids were carjacked by a black man but she'd really coldbloodedly watch them drown in her car because she wanted the affections of a man who didn't want children.

Dunno.

It still could be a neighborhood perv. And most pervs molest 17 kids before they get caught, so the 44 known sex offenders within 5 miles of their home surely aren't the only ones.

i can only imagine the things they found in that trailer...unless Misty did a quick search and destroy of evidence...i have a feeling the details in the end will be hard to except...

Looks like you may be right, that the forensic evidence is coming in and they need to question them again.

Haleigh's family to be re-questioned by investigators

Sheriff's Deputies are set to re-interview family members of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings. But who exactly is being interviewed and what questions they want to ask is being kept secret.

Deputies are refusing to answer questions about discrepancies in the story told by the last person to see Haleigh. The 17-year-old live-in girlfriend of Haleigh's father says she put the 5 year old to sleep Monday night and awoke early Tuesday to find her gone.

In initial reports, Misty Croslin(pictured) had told investigators that she was sleeping in the same bed as Haleigh and her younger brother. But Croslin told reporters Thursday that she was sleeping in another room, got up to use the bathroom, and found the girl missing.

Meanwhile, search teams continue to scour heavily wooded areas near Haleigh's Putnam County home. The search has been expanded past the 5-mile-radius that was first established, and volunteer groups such as Kid Finders and Texas Eqqusearch have arrived to aid in the search.

SATSUMA, FL -- Captain Steve Rose with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office gave reporters the latest update on the search for 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, missing since early Tuesday.

Rose said today was a "very productive day" in the search and that searchers had found several items of interest.

He would not say any more about what has been found, but said teams are still searching homes, the woods, and waterways near Haleigh's home with all their resources.

Rose added that the investigation is still being treated as an abduction, and that it's an abduction if she was taken from her home, or if she left her home and was picked up by someone else later.

Searchers are still "hopeful" that she is still alive, and are continuing to interview many people, including family members.

The group heading up the volunteer efforts, EquuSearch, has called off their efforts for the day, but Capt. Rose said they will be back tomorrow and expect to have even more volunteers helping them.

- The Putnam county Sheriffs office said Friday afternoon that they have several items of interest in the case of missing 5 year old Haleigh Cummings.

The little girl has been missing since Monday when her father said he out her to bed only to find her missing early Tuesday morning.

Authorities and volunteers have been searching for the little girl in the area surrounding the home which is about 85 miles to the north of Orlando.

Detectives have also talked to all the registered sex offenders in the area. Texas based group Equusearch joined the volunteer efforts.

In a press conference Friday the sheriffs department wouldn’t revel what the items of interest they found were, only saying that they had been sent to a lab in Jacksonville for further analysis.

The initial police report.

Rumors have it that a brother of Misty's lives on the next street over, and that that's what's blacked out on the police report.

There was other net gossip yesterday about one of the uncles confessing to killing her, nothing came of that. Just idle gossip.

In the police report it looks like poor little Haleigh was wandering all over the neighborhood according to the tracking dog's path.

Betcha Misty left after she put them to bed. Haleigh got up and went down the path to see if Misty was at her brother's house.

Note how on the 911 call Misty tells them Haleigh was wearing pajamas, then she tells on the police report tan shorts and a pink t shirt, then later she says underpants and a pink shirt.

And her media story of bathroom, kitchen light, door propped open, then realize Haleigh is gone is pre-empted in this police report: She got up to get a drink, noticed Haleigh missing, ran around looking for Haleigh, then noticed the back door open.

She says she was sure the back door was locked before going to bed, but in later days would say she didn't look because it was always locked.

The father's behavior in the police report is just bizarre.

Yep, Haleigh running around the neighborhood like that makes it seems like she was out looking for Misty. Not running away, not being abducted by her mom, and maybe not being taken out of the house unconscious.

Betcha Misty shit her pants when she got back home and found Haleigh gone missing, so she hoped Haleigh would come back, waited til the last possible minute to tell cuz she knew dad Ronald would beat the living tar outta her if not kill her, and here we are.

JMO.

Just read an update, that brother of Misty's doesn't live down that path but the other way.

SATSUMA - About 250 volunteers scoured rural Putnam County for signs of Haleigh Cummings, but they failed to find anything suspicious, a Putnam County sheriff's official said at a televised news conference Saturday.

Investigators have determined that several objects found Friday that they deemed "items of interest" are not related to the 5-year-old girl's disappearance, Chief Deputy Rick Ryan said at the news conference. Volunteers and authorities will continue their search today, but officials are suspending dives in the nearby St. Johns River. It's been five days since Haleigh was reported missing.

In related news, volunteers found one area of interest in the woods where someone had constructed a makeshift lean-to and furniture out of tree branches. A shovel and length of rope were found at the location; however it remains unclear if any of the items are of relevance.

Police Follow Tip Haleigh's Dad's Girlfriend Wasn't Home

Investigators Following More Than 1,000 Tips


PALATKA, Fla. - Since an Amber Alert was issued for 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings one week ago, more than 1,000 tips have poured into a Crimestoppers hot line; and until Tuesday afternoon investigators have not released specific information about the leads they've received.

However, on Tuesday, new information was released that Haleigh's father's girlfriend, 17-year-old Misty Croslin, may not have been at home the night Haleigh disappeared.

Investigators in Putnam County said they are looking into the Croslin tip as a possibility.

Haleigh was reported missing just after 3 a.m. last Tuesday when Croslin told authorities she woke up and found the child missing. Within minutes, Croslin and Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, placed frantic calls to 911.

A massive search was under way by first light and an Amber Alert was issued.

Since the investigation began, Croslin has told detectives and told Channel 4 that she put Haleigh and the girl's younger brother to bed at about 8 p.m., and that at 10 p.m. both children were still in bed.


Croslin said when she awoke at about 3 a.m. to use the bathroom she noticed Haleigh was missing.

"I didn't make it to the bathroom. I seen the kitchen light on and I walked in the kitchen and the back door is wide open," Croslin told Channel 4's Laura Mazzeo. "I go in the room and she's gone. And that's all I know. When I went to bed she was there and then when I got up and she was gone."

Croslin has been interviewed by detectives and volunteered to take a lie-detector test -- which she said she passed -- but had not spoken publicly until midday Thursday when she spoke to Mazzeo.

"I didn't hear anything at all. If I'd heard something, I would have got up and I wouldn't have let them take her," Croslin said.

Croslin said Haleigh and her 3-year-old brother "look at me like their mom."

"I love her like she's my own," she said. "I just want her to come home."

Croslin said she doesn't blame herself, but she's emotionally devastated and just want to know that Haleigh is safe.

"I wished they'd took me instead of her, because I could have fought," Croslin said. "She's only 5; she can't really do anything. What do they want with a little 5-year-old?"

Detectives said the lead that Croslin may not have been home when Haleigh went missing is just one of many tips they are looking into.

Investigators also revealed on Tuesday new information about Amber Alert that was issued last week, say they have the pink T-shirt Haleigh was originally thought to be wearing the night she disappeared.

"We obtained information through our investigation that young Haleigh was not, in fact, wearing the pink shirt at the time of her disappearance," Putnam County Chief Deputy Rick Ryan said. "What we need people to focus on (Haleigh's) face because we do not know at this time what the clothing was."

Tuesday afternoon, officials said they have received almost 1,200 leads -- double the number they had on Monday -- but there have been no confirmed sightings of Haleigh.

Still, officials said all tips are welcome and anyone with information about Haleigh's disappearance should call at 888-277-TIPS or the FDLE's Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse at 888-FL-MISSING.

Hope Service Held For Haleigh

Over the past week, family and friends of Haleigh have come together to pray for the child's safe return during candlelight vigils. On Tuesday afternoon, instead of gathering for an outdoor candlelight vigil, they met a church a few miles from the Cummings' home.


Hundreds of people, some who do not know Haleigh or her family personally, gathered at Dunns Creek Baptist Church to pray for the missing 5-year-old girl.

"It's horrible that sometimes it takes tragedies to pull people together to wake them up and make them realize what's really important in this life," said Nancy Mann, who attended the hope service.

Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, and her mother, Crystal Sheffield, sat side-by-side throughout the service as they held their son and listened to words of encouragement. Croslin was also at the service, sitting on Cummings' other side.

Pastor Terry Wright said although some would argue that Tuesday's service was pointless because too many days have passed in the search for Haleigh, he said he's choosing not to adopt an attitude of despair.

"We're choosing to have hope because we believe in a God bigger than the statistics," Wright said.

The pastor ended the hope service by asking everyone to pray for Haleigh and for her family before they left.

Investigators Have Pink Shirt They Thought She Wore

PALATKA, Fla. - Authorities updated the Amber Alert for Haleigh Cummings on Tuesday, because they no longer know what clothes she was wearing when she disappeared a week ago.

Earlier, investigators said the 5-year-old girl was wearing a pink shirt, but that shirt has been located. Now, officials do not know what clothing the girl was wearing when she was reported missing from her Putnam County home on Feb. 19.

At a 4 p.m. news conference, investigators would make no comment about the pink shirt.

At the county's emergency operations center in Palatka, officials have fielded hundreds of calls from people who believe they may have a clue to Haleigh's whereabouts.

At a news briefing on Tuesday, Putnam County Sheriff's Office Capt. Steve Rose said authorities are following several good leads they received while canvassing the neighborhood where Haleigh vanished one week ago.


Rose said authorities also talked to drivers in the neighborhood while conducting a road block near Haleigh's home. He would not release further details about the leads.

With the ground search wrapped up around Haleigh's home, investigators moved to the Lake Como area on Tuesday.

But more tactical searches may be in the future for law enforcement officers as they follow up on tips and other leads.


"We may come back and search some of those areas again based on that new information," Putnam County Sheriff Jeff Hardy said.

Authorities continued to conduct interviews with Haleigh's family and friends on Monday.

The door could have been propped-open so that Misty could get back in.
Maybe she did not have a key.
Maybe she went out, and even took the little girl with her and something happened somewhere else.
What about traffic cams? Or gas station, etc. cams?
I think they may be looking at the wrong timeline.
Maybe they should look at all local area cams from an earlier time.
