Re: DOW Watch – Feb. 17, 2009 – Is the eleventh hour at hand?
Or, you said Eastern Europe? Wouldn't the countries the IMF helped already be OK or oould they still fail?

My thread from yesterday had an article in it that touched upon this subject. Let me see if I can find it.

Here you go Diet:

Thread: European Doom Imminent!

The sums needed are beyond the limits of the IMF, which has already bailed out Hungary, Ukraine, Latvia, Belarus, Iceland, and Pakistan – and Turkey next – and is fast exhausting its own $200bn (€155bn) reserve. We are nearing the point where the IMF may have to print money for the world, using arcane powers to issue Special Drawing Rights.
Its $16bn rescue of Ukraine has unravelled. The country – facing a 12pc contraction in GDP after the collapse of steel prices – is hurtling towards default, leaving Unicredit, Raffeisen and ING in the lurch. Pakistan wants another $7.6bn. Latvia's central bank governor has declared his economy "clinically dead" after it shrank 10.5pc in the fourth quarter. Protesters have smashed the treasury and stormed parliament.

Thanks! hf
There are some good articles in that thread as well. It paints a clear picture of where the toppling point will begin.

Re: DOW Watch – Feb. 17, 2009 – Is the eleventh hour at hand?
and so what is being stated? will the DOW drop today in spite of the stimulus bill?

that does not make sense.

The Dow never makes sense. Everytime they come out with a new package it dives when they announce job loses it goes up. So I figure they don't know what to do really
 Quoting: Ubetcha

I'm glad you're not the only one that sees how transparent the market manipulation is - it has nothing to do with real value. There is an elite, small group of people who play the market and win knowing that the less informed (or naive) larger portion will lose because they they are the sheep and they are being fleeced but too dumb to know it. Absolutely, the Dow never makes sense because its movement isn't based on logic or facts but by puppetmasters.

The IMF is run be thieves (proven- multi-millions go missing EVERY MONTH!), the stimulus is a pain-killer whoms effects will not kick in for months, if at all and these bailouts have done nothing but spread the fire around.

Some people with lots of money surely knows this stimulus is a joke.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 69144

My fundemental problem with it is the money that is going to the states. Why are they throwing good money at bad?
In the case of California they dug a huge hole and the same people who captained the ship are at the helm of that Albatrose. These are band-aid solutions to a hemmoraging patient.

Any idea what the fall country will be, Diet?

Ireland?

My guess and it is purely a guess at this point is the Ukraine would topple first.

get rid of credit and stock up as well. it is not an either or thing.

what is better - a revolver or a composite, a rifle or a carbine or a shotgun. seems you could get a couple of those fairly cheaply and pay off the credit card.

Think gold will fall significantly from these heights? If so, when? On a precious metals board, some guy who apparently is good at forecasting this stuff says gold will fall into mid-March, but he said that fall would start Feb. 16. Doesn't seem like it's happening. ... Maybe he didn't take Eastern European implosion into consideration.

I'm sure the talk of the "Stimulus Plan" from the white house will rally the markets. Then when the markets start tanking, obama will release some news about some other program he is about to release.
