i remember reading somewhere (and if i recall where, i'll post the link) that in past times of ELE events, researchers think there were lotsof weird events going on as some sort of precursors. apparently before the dinos' went tits up, there were mass exticitions and swarms of various insects etc. as well as strange weather & seismic activity.

now as i say, i can't recall where i read this, but it surely seems reminiscent of today. makes you wonder what's over the horizon.
