Canada 03/06/2009 04:17 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | my 50 or so (hydroponic)help.. bean plants saw a couple of them with withered leaves i have put a couple of bean plants in a "stand-still" tray of water & little fertilizers. the seedlings grew to about 10 cm in about a week and a half. now i saw a couple of them with shrivelled leaves that have lost strength to hold their own. so the stems for the couple of plants look strong, but when you've reached the leaves they've shrivelled and are bent down completely. anyone know what these are symptoms of.
i also saw a couple of browning on the edge of a couple of the leaves. any advice would be helpful. thnx |

brown tips you say? sound likeover fert too.. actually,i know for some, if not most plants your not supposed to feed fert within first couple weeks, in the seedling stage - it will kill the plants, you should start feeding fert when they are a couple inches tall and have 2 or 3 nodes
not sure about growing beans but, you should try to make them a little thristy in between waterings/feedings
so yeah just watch your waterings, and dont feed them so much your burning them sounds like it
hope this helps |

wait another thing. im trying out a static (stand-still) type of hydroponics, and i did imerese the seedling into the trays of water, so i see how it shrivelled. but if i am doing this type of hydroponics isnt this what i am supposed to do? no? i mean you put the plant in the water, and thats it right? one way or another it would get over watered anyways. no? i dont have the money/ support from family to invest in a drip or ebb and flow system. does anyone know a tried and tested way of maintaining proper water levels for hydroponic gardens? thanks ac for your help. |

You could try adding a little fungicide called No Damp (Oxine Benzoate) to the water. |
