How about not bouncing checks? Quoting: Al Capone 634870That's exactly the point. The bank is the one creating these errors. Most of the checks wouldn't bounce if the banks left their policies alone. Seems like deliberate manipulation to suck a few more dollars out of their customers. Now take that violin and shove it up your ass. Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force! If the people win they'll get back a lot of the unfair charges. Fair enough if you go overdrawn by a lot but some cases we're talking about 10 pence and then a charge of £35 plus interest on the overdrawn amount which isn't 10p, it's £35.10. |

Quoting: Al Capone 634870I wouldn't have a problem in the world paying an overdraft fee, even for multiple items... IF it were a reasonable charge. Let's say, $10 or $15. But the idea that you overdraw your account by a dollar and pay $140 in fees should just be illegal. By your logic, where we should be personally responsible and NEVER make a mistake, then it's okay if the bank just charges $100 per overdraft. After all, it's your fault for not managing your finances. Keep defending the banks, dumbass. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 93091 Spain 03/16/2009 01:05 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | £5000 overdraft gradually being paid off from my monthly salary each month. When I lost the regular salary and became self-employed I sometimes paid my money in a day or two after the bank calculated it's fees and those fees are what pushed my account over the overdraft. To cut a long story short this overdraft was looking like never being paid so I asked to change it to a loan - wouldn't do it cause my account had exceeded the overdraft too many times. All in all I repaid the £5000 overdraft 3 times and still owed the same as I started with so I stopped paying. They kept adding charges and now I owe about £6500 and told them to take me to court. I tried everything to resolve this - a loan, begging them to stop the interest or excessive charges for 6 months, everything I could, but they just said no. Remember I've already paid them back £15,000 for the the original £5000 and now they want another £6500. |

Quoting: Al Capone 634870one time i recall, for instance... I used my debit card (back when i trusted the banks, so naively) to purchase a pack of cigarettes... Earlier, i had been at the bank for a meeting with one of the officials there - i was told by them that my account had a balance that could cover such purchase. My electronic report also claimed the same thing. Both said i had 35 dollars and some odd cents. I purchased one pack of cigarettes at $4.57. 35-4.57 = 31.43. Apparently, the bank had messed up tho. I had only $4.24 in the account. Therefore, i had a 33 cent overdraft... For which, i had to pay them 40 fucking dollars for THEIR mistake! Fuck the banks. They only try to screw you I WILL NOT let consequences dictate my course of action! Diligently watching my account on the banks website has led me to these discoveries. I didn't receive a memo from them stating the changes. Gradually they will make it impossible to complete a transaction without being charged an enormous fee. Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force!
