Why does modern technology seem to encourage/breed a passive response to life?
We've all become so accustomed to putting our dependence on external providers that we've lost the ability to question and learn through experience. Push-button technology has turned us into an army of non-thinking cyphers.

We spend so much of our time worrying about work and money and bills that we seem to have lost sight of the bigger picture. Who has time to think about anything when we're constantly bombarded with the everyday distractions of modern life.

We've evolved into nothing more than passive consumers for the latest market-led cutting-edge technlogical gizmo.

Why settle for a dual-core PC when you have a quad-core? Why settle for a 5mp camera when you can get 10mp?
Why settle for a PSP2 when they've released a PSP3?

There's a never a time for pause. For reflection. For thought.

Is this all there is?

its called keeping us dumbed down.We can't have the masses thinking for themselves!
Did the iron in your blood and calcium in your bones come from a long-ago supernova? Astronomer and writer Carl Sagan thought so. "We are star stuff", Sagan once said.
Every one of us is precious in the cosmic perspective. If a human disagrees with you, let him live. In a hundred billion galaxies, you will not find another.

We are star stuff which has taken its destiny into its own hands.

... what???... passive???... you say... no and no, and not even seemingly so. More 'leisure time' is hardly passive... and just as surely as most kinds of 'fun' ain't at all passive either.

Ya just cain't go and blame any kinda modern technologies for someone's owned passivities.
