Quoting: Anonymous Coward 599652its a good way to fill in time, and get revenue... also, most places once in a while have their 'big cackdowns' wether its for drugs or drink drivers. Yeah. You'd think they wouldnt get away with charging people for being "Drunk in public" in their own homes though, would you? They only get away with it because no one here can afford a good lawyer. Dirtfarmer User ID: 633895 United States 03/13/2009 01:02 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Small rural towns are plagued with exactly the activity the OP describes. The town I live near Pop. 850, has 2 full time and 2 part time cops, and they have absolutely nothing to do. They create some kind of so called infraction to have something besides sitting on their arses all day and night. Just look at the concentration of police to the population, especially when you realize that 75% of the population is over 70 years old. How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think. Adolf Hitler When the government fears the people there is liberty; when the people fear the government there is tyranny. Thomas Jefferson "Expose yourself to your deepest fear; after that, fear has no power, and the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes. You are free." Jim Morrison |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 599652link or ...... yer u get the point. What do you mean 'link' I was there, IN PERSON when they came into the house and arrested him for being drunk in public. Its a long story but no link is necessary. IT HAPPENED. All they offered to justify their actions was that "someone reportedly saw him stumbling around in the streets and then directed the officers to our house". But no public defender would have been good enough to prove the officer's incompetence. User Image: [link to img509.imageshack.us] |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 602429 United States 03/13/2009 01:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | These days all I hear are sirens all over town, and all I see when driving down the road are cops on the side of the road, lights all aflash, pulling people over. I can't recall a time when they were ever this "active". And to make matters worse, my town only has a population of 1,500 people. My friends are getting charged with "drunk in public" for drinking in their own home or on their own porches, while the drunkards outside the local bar, who yell and scream and cause a bunch of bar fights go untouched by the law, even as they staggar home in the middle of the night. Let's not forget the face that my boyfriend and I have been stopped while taking our NIGHTLY WALK at least four times a month. WHAT THE HELL GIVES? Quoting: BrightsighedDept of Homeland Security has given a lot of tiny little police departments $$$ for a new squad car or new night sticks or handcuffs or pepper spray -- or a camera or two... And so Barney Fife is out doing shit to justify having all these freakin' news toys that YOU BOUGHT WITH THE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF WASTED MONEY from an out-of-control fascist federal government that is taken over by the CFR/New World Order CRIMINALS. Got your brown shirts and arm bands? |

Quoting: BrightsighedAnd this will REALLY piss you off; there's an even smaller town next to us (Population of about 200 people). But THEIR cops don't drive the usual. Nope, they get SPIFFED up dodge CHARGERS. Because, well, they might need that powerful of a vehicle to chase a speeding car from one end of the town to the other end a whole 4 hundred feet away. What's more is that the local casino paid for those cars for the cops. Probably a scandal or cover up in my opinion. Anyway just wanted to rant. Becuase I got stopped just the other night for walking at 2 in the morning and had to PROVE I was an adult who wasn't breaking cerfew. Go figure. Anyhow just wanted to vent. you live in Oklahoma? |
